Grassland resources are the basis of animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia grassland. Overgrazing is the most important driving factor for grasslands degradation. At present about 90% of grassland is degradation in varying degrees. How to improve the grass production and the healthy development of grazing system is an important problem of animal husbandry. Only by correctly understanding the dynamics mechanisms of grassland ecosystem and use it to guide the development of grassland management policies, will it be possible to control the overall degradation trend of grassland in northern China.1. In this study, we introduced the grazing management software GrassGro from Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) of Australian. We used grazing management software GrassGro integrating simulation and ground-based measurements combination methods to model and predict growth of grass, forage quality dynamics and established the critical point of suitable balance between grass and livestock during 2006 to 2009 in Hulunbeier of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. By that we advanced the optimize allocation programs of grass and animal resources.2. We collected nine kinds of animal parameters, five species parameters, as well as 16 kinds of feed parameters and soil and meteorological data of Hulunbeier grassland ecosystems Experiment Station field observation. And then we calibrated the GrassGro model parameters.3. After Calibration, we simulate the Hulunbeier grassland production fluctuations in the measured average. Fitting rainfall-driven meteorological factors to establish the relevance of the model of 0.908 (P<0.5) to develop a precipitation-biological production model in the region.4. Used the corrected model to simulate grassland biodiversity and changes in grassland livestock weight under different grazing intensity and constituted the appropriate stocking rate (0.75ewes/hm~2) in the region. Pointed out that the community in the moderate grazing intensity can be maintained high biodiversity. With the increase in grazing intensity, associated with species (Potentilla bifurca) of Leymus chinensis grassland become the dominant species, if overgrazing sustained, Potentilla bifurca and Carex can replaced Leymus chinensis and grassland degradation.5. Rotation is the preferred pattern of long-term grazing. Considering the compesitive benefit, in this region start grazing time at May 1 should be the best choice, and it is very important to feed green supplement in winter.
