Forest landscape stability is an important factor of forest sustainable development. Evaluating forest landscape stability is of vital importance for maintaining of stability of forest landscape and fulfilling forest sustainable development. To avoid disadvantage of forest management emphasizing vertical structure and function, this thesis studied forest landscape stability in landscape level in order to supply theory basis and scientific method for forest resource management, protection and using and forest sustainable management, applying integrated and macroscopical characteristic of landscape ecology. Based on the digital map of Liuxi river national forest park in Guangzhou, the thesis analyzed and evaluated the forest landscape stability of Liuxi river national forest park in Guangzhou by using the geography information system (GIS) technique and landscape structure analysis program FRAGSTATS. The results are summarized as follows:(1) The index system for evaluation of forest landscape stability of Liuxi river national forest park in Guangzhou was designed, and the index system used 12 indicators such as Patch density, landscape shape index, Interspersion and Juxtaposition Index, Patch Cohesion Index, Splitting Index and Biomass index and so on.(2) 16 patch classes were assorted in the research area. According to the assorting , landscape map was drawn in GIS soft ware ARC/INFO and the landscape map was translated into Grid form which can be used by landscape indices soft ware spatial pattern analysis program FRAGSTATS and the forest landscape stability indices were calculated.(3)By the means of principal component analysis in statistics, all components are screened to four indices, respectively were used to describe landscape heterogeneity, landscape productivity, landscape patch shape and landscape spatial pattern. Synthetic evaluation model of forest landscape stability of Liuxi river was established and landscape forest stability of each patch classes was evaluated and the result showed: the forest landscape stability of Liuxi river national forest park ranked as following: broadleaved forest—broadleaved mixed forest—bamboo—soft broadleaved forest--non-forestland—coniferous and broadleaved mixed forest— Cunninghamia lanceolata — Sohima superba Gardn.et Cham— Acacia spp — Camellia sinensis —...
