Objective:To investigate the association of salusin-a level with diabetic nephropathy. Methods:The Second people’s Hospital of Yunnan Province were enrolled in this study. They included sixty-one type 2 diabetic patients (DM group) and twenty-five normal subjects as control group(CON group)in Kunming Han Chinese. According to the result of 24 hour urinary protein excretion, are divided into normal albuminuria(DNO group,14cases), microalbuminuria(DN1 group,23 cases) and macroalbuminuria (DN2 group,24 cases). Generally, DN1 group and DN2 group are referred to as abnormal proteinuria (DN group,47cases).ELISA for serum salusin-a concentration. Blood pressure(SBP、DBP)、body mass index(BMI) and Waist-Hip Ratio (WHR) were measured. Glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc)、fasting plasma glucose(FPG) and lipids(Chol、Trig、HDL、LDL) was detected by automatic biochemistry analyzers. Age, sex and prior medical histories including hypertension, smoking status were obtained in all subjects. Salusin-a level、clinical parameters and biochemical indicators were compared statistically between the subgroups.Results:(1)There were significant differences in serum levels of salusin-a between CON group and DM group, between DNO group and DN2 group, between DN1 group and DN2 group[(4.80±2.21pg/ml vs3.58±2.60pg/ml, P<0.05) (2.70 ±1.90pg/ml vs 5.19±2.85pg/ml, p<0.01) (2.44 ±1.75pg/ml vs 5.19 ±2.85pg/ml, p <0.001)]. (2) There were no significant differences in serum levels of salusin -α between DNO group and DNlgroup(p>0.05). (3) In DM and DN groups, serum salusin-a levels were negatively correlated with WHR(r=-0.314,p<0.05;r=-0.372,p <0.05), which were positively correlated with BUN.(r=0.255,p<0.05;r=0.374,p< 0.05). (4) In DN1 group, serum salusin-a levels were positively correlated with HDL(r= 0.567,p<0.05), while serum salusin-a levels were negatively correlated with LDL in DN2 group(r=-0.429,p<0.05). (5) Age、FPG、HbAlc、BMI、blood pressure、Chol、 Trig and CRE did not affect serum salusin-a levels (p>0.05).Conclusions:(1)The serum salusin-a levels is significantly lower in diabetes mellitus than of the normal people. The serum salusin-a levels is significantly lower in both diabetes without renal disease and the early stage of diabetic nephropathy than of the end stage of diabetic nephropathy.(2)In diabetes mellitus and diabetic nephropathy, serum salusin-a levels are negatively correlated with WHR,while serum salusin-a levels and BUN are positively correlated. In the early stage of diabetic nephropathy, the serum salusin-a levels and HDL are positively correlated, whereas in the end stage of diabetic nephropathy, serum salusin-a levels is negatively correlated with LDL.Objective:To investigate the association of salusin-β level with diabetic nephropathy. Methods:The Second people’s Hospital of Yunnan Province were enrolled in this study. They included fifty-four type 2 diabetic patients (DM group)and twenty-three normal subjects as control group(CON group) in Kunming Han Chinese.According to the result of the 24 hour urinary protein excretion, diabetic patients group are divided into normal albuminuria(DNO group,9cases), microalbuminuria(DN1 group, 21 cases) and macroalbuminuria (DN2 group,24 cases). Generally, DN1 group and DN2 group are referred to as abnormal proteinuria (DN group).ELISA for serum salusin-a concentration. Blood pressure(SBP、DBP)、 body mass index(BMI) and Waist-Hip Ratio (WHR) were measured. Salusin-βlevel、clinical parameters and biochemical indicators were compared statistically between the subgroups。Results:(1)There were significant differences in serum levels of salusin-β between CON group and DM group.[(1.71±1.15pg/ml vs 3.35±1.93pg/ml,P<0.001)].(2)There were no significant differences in serum levels of salusin-β among DNO group、 DN1group、DN2 group(p>0.05). (3)Age, WHR, FPG, HbAlc, BMI, blood pressure, blood lipid, BUN and CRE were not correlated with serum level of salusin-β in any group(p>0.05).Conclusion:(1)The serum salusin-β levels is significantly lower in normal people than of diabetes mellitus. There were no significant differences in serum levels of salusin-β among diabetes without renal disease、early stage of diabetic nephropathy、end stage of diabetic nephropathy.(2) The serum salusin-β level was not correlated with age、WHR、FPG、HbAl、BMI、blood pressure、blood lipid、 BUN and CRE.
