| Aim:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of puncturing at Taichong and Renying for essential hypertension patients.Methods:Open-label, multi-center, randomized and controlled trial was designed.186 mild hypertension patients who matched the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into 2 groups via central randomized method to undergoing puncturing at Taichong and Renying or non-acupoint area. Each group received the treatment for 30 minutes each time,3 times per week, account to 6 weeks or 18 times. We used the mean systolic and diastolic pressure during 24 hours as the main outcome and other as the secondary outcome. We evaluated the clinical efficacy after the treatment,3weeks follow-up and 6 weeks follow-up.Results:1. In week 6, the blood pressure indicators of two groups all showed varying degrees of baseline, while the teatment group was more significant than control group. In control group, the value of night SBP load was significant different from baseline (P<0.05), while the other values of indicators had no significant difference with baseline (P>0.05). There were significant differences between the values (24hMBP, day MBP, night MSBP, day SBP load) in two groups (P<0.05).2. In week 9, the blood pressure indicators of two groups were significant different from baseline (P<0.05) without the values of 24hMDBP and day MDBP in treatment group (P>0.05). There were no significant differences between all the values in two groups (P<0.05).3. In week 12, the blood pressure indicators of two groups were significant different from baseline (P<0.05) without the values of night DBP load in treatment group (P>0.05). There were no significant differences between all the values in two groups (P>0.05).4. When comes to the SF-36, in treatment group, the values of body painã€social functioning and role-emotional were significant different from base line(P><0.05), while in controlled group, there was no significant difference from base line after the treatment(P>0.05). The values of social functioning and role-emotional were significant different between the two groups (P<0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture at Taichong and Renying achieves a nice result in lowering blood pressure, with obvious advantages on the speed and persistence of lowering blood pressure and the improvement of the quality of life in patients. |
