As one of the four major cut flowers all over the world, rose (Rosa hybrida L.) had played a very important role in world flower industry, and had been widely cultivated in China now. However, there are different climatic conditions and a wide cultivars of rose in China, the most suitable cultivars should been chosen in a region to produce a large number of high-quality cut flowers. Wuhan is located in the Yangtze River region, which had abundant sunlight in the year and an extremely high temperature in summer. The harm of drought, diseases and pest was accompanied by the high temperature in greenhouse between spring and summer, which had lead to slower growth, less production and lower quality of rose. Besides, cut rose cultivation techniques in China was lagging behind, and there was little cultivation techniques which was corresponding with the cultivation environment in Wuhan. Therefore, these factors had lead to low production and quality of cut roses in Wuhan. To solve these problems, the author had done some research on the selection of cut rose cultivar, rapid thermotolerance identification for different cultivars, and cultivation techniques for cut rose. The main results were as following:(1) Twenty-five cut rose cultivars were studied and evaluated on the characters such as cut flower appearance, flower stalk, production-related characters and resistance in Wuhan. Meanwhile, a comprehensive evaluation system for cut rose cultivars was established by means of AHP. The result showed that the most suitable cultivars for cultivation in Wuhan were'Tineke','Super Rose','Cardinal'and'Champagne', which had better comprehensive characters including graceful flower shape, pure and beautiful colors, longer flower stalk, better growth, higher frequency of blooming, better resistance to rose powdery mildew and higher thermotolerance.(2) According to the results of thermotolerance identification for different cultivars by conventional method, the four cultivars of'Black Lady','Samantha','Saiun'and 'Strawberry Ice-cream', which had significant difference on thermotolerance, were treated with heat stress. The physiological indicators of the four cultivars were measured under different stress time, and the variation under different treat-time was analyzed on each indicator so that the thermotolerance of different cultivars could be identified by each indicator. The results show that the variation of proline content during 0 to 1 days, which reflected the same result under conventional thermotolerance identification for the four cultivars, could be a indicator of rapid thermotolerance identification for cut rose cultivars. Besides, the variation of MDA content during 0 to 2 days, which reflected a consistent result with the conventional identification, can be used as a secondary reference.(3) Four cut rose cultivars including Tineke','Super Rose','Cardinal'and 'Champagne', which got the highest comprehensive value, were selected to be the material for cultivation experiment. Three cultivation factors of cultivar, cultivation medium and the concentration of nitrogen fertilization were studied by orthogonal test to figure out their impact on three productive benefit factors of cut rose production, flower stalk and flower diameter. The best cultivation treatments were selected for each productive benefit factors and comprehensive benefit. Considered the actual productive costs, two cultivation modes were proposed as following:Cultivating'Cardinal'and 'Champagne'in the mixed medium of perlite and peat (volume ratio is 3:1) with the concentration of nitrogen fertilization is 80mg/L when producing large-scale with adequate capital; Cultivating'Cardinal'and'Champagne'in garden soil with the concentration of nitrogen fertilization is 80mg/L when producing small-scale with inadequate capital.
