Study On The Evaluation Of The New Flue-cured Tobacco Varieties Suitable For Planting In The Guandu Area

In the view of the existing tobacco production issues with single variety, agricultural character degradation of the main cultivars and the relatively poor quality of upper leaf, this study was conducted to select the new flue-cured tobacco varieties that suitable for planting in the Guandu area. comparison was made among Yunyan 97, Yunyan 98, Yunyan 100, Yunyan 201, Yunyan 202, Yunyan 203, with K326 as CK, for 3 years from 2007-2009. This study analyses and compares the main growth period, botanical character, agronomic characters, index of the main disease in the field, prolificacy and stability of the economic characters, etc. The results showed as following:1.Compared with CK (K326), the new flue-cured tobacco varieties of Yunyan 97 and Yunyan 100 had slightly large pitch, good light transmittance in the field, slightly thin major veins, slightly wide lumbar leaf, better expanding of the leaves, slightly late bolting than K326, slightly longer harvesting date than K326, better prolificacy and stability of the economic characters than K326, better comprehensive performance of agricultural character, much orange color in cured tobacco leaves, better appearance quality than K326, proper contents of the main chemical components, the new varieties of Yunyan 97 and Yunyan 100 had better adaptability in the Guandu area. We advise an exemplary planting in advance, and then extend the planting when the exemplary planting have a stable performance.2.The expansion of the new flue-cured tobacco varieties concerns the tobacco grower's profits. Yunyan 98 had slightly poor topping off height and available leaves number than K326, better prolificacy and stability of the economic characters than K326 while poor than Yunyan 97 and Yunyan 100 in the proportion and average price of the high class leaf especially. Yunyan 201, Yunyan 202 and Yunyan 203 had better natural resistance to TMV in the field, better expansion prospects, no much difference with K326 in the agronomic and economic characters, equivalent comprehensive performance with K326, relatively high proportion of the variegated tobacco in the flue-curing process. The four new flue-cured tobacco varieties are not suitable for extending, we advise further studies on the suitable fertilizer rate and corresponding curing technique of the four varieties.
