The appropriation of fertilization and the balance of nutrition have closely related to the yield, appearance, quality of tobacco. Current fertilizer application in Hengyang is mainly in the from of potassium and sulfur fertilizer, which made acid deposition dual factors of effective tobacco soil sulfur constantly improve, causing the soil pH value decreased, leading to soil compaction, deterioration of its physical and chemical properties. In order to adapt and improve the soil of tobacco, adjust appropriate of tobacco Fertilizer, develop a reasonable program for sulfur production in tobacco leaves is important in Hengyang. This study examined the main plant tobacco smoke through the area of Hengyang field sampling system of the Hengyang planting tobacco smoke and tobacco soil sulfur status of sulfur content, sulfur content and smoking tobacco-related research. Many researches have been carried in South Hengyang and Leiyang and the effect between the different rates of fertilizers and yield and quality of tobacco has been studied, which made us to determined appropriate amount of sulfur fertilizer application. The main conclusions are as follows.1 The Hengyang tobacco generally high with soil sulfur and the sulfur content in the soil significantly increased year by year, soil sulfur content in 2002,2005,2008, was 35.88 mg/kg,42.89 mg/kg,51.89mg/kg, respectively. The suitable soil available sulfur should below 5% and greater than 95% in high-sulfur areas. The average content and appropriate content of the lower, middle and upper leaves are 0.63% to 97.81%,0.82% to 0.93%,34.97% to17.49%, respectively. The relationship sulfur content and smoking quantitative is that, the upper leaf sulfur content and momentum was significantly negatively correlated with the aroma, concentration, irritation was positively correlated; middle leaves with momentum and the total score was significantly negatively related to leaf sulfur content and, irritating, finish, and combustion of a positive correlation; lower sulfur content in tobacco smoking rates were significantly positively related to high sulfur content, the higher smoking rates.2 The different amount of sulfur fertilizer treatment will effect the growth and yield of tobacco quality in a certain extent. Tested the soil in the state of high sulfur content, sulfur content in the 48-72 kg/hm2, the increase in plant height and stem diameter of tobacco; to increase the dry matter accumulation of flue-cured tobacco, especially to increase the dry matter in leaves distribution. The sulfur deficiency or excess will affect dry matter accumulation, reducing the distribution of dry matter ratio in the leaves; sulfur content in the 48-72 kg/hm2 chemical quality, better coordination of sugar nicotine and potassium more high quality evaluation of the appearance of higher tobacco can increase the oil and color.3 The sulfur fertilizer use in Hengyang tobacco area keep in 48-72 kg/hm2 will increase yield and improve the average price of tobacco.
