Chrysanthemum was ranked at fourth by total yield in wold cutting flowers, and is one of ten famous traditional flowers in China. Cut chrysanthemum is one of the most important flowers in the world. The production area and value of cut chrysanthemum have occupied the important position in China flower industry. But compare with Holand or Japan, chrysanthemum cultivation technique in China was falls behind them, especially the yield and the quality. Nitrogen is the key mineral nutrition on he yield and the quality. The effects of different concentration of nitrogen on quality of cut chrysanthemum'Youxiang' were studied in the paper. The results were summarized as follows:1.No significance differences were found in plant height among the treatments of 6.0~60Kg/560m2 before 24th,December, later. The plant couldn't grow normally in low concentration of nitrogen, however, its growth was restricted in high concentration of nitrogen. So the best concentrations of nitrogen were 64.2g/m2 and 42.6g/m2.2. No significance differences were found in number of leaves before 7th January. After 14th January, i.e. in the period of floral bud differentiation, significance differences were found among the treatments, and number of leaves was the biggest in the treatment of 64.2g/m2.3.The differences increased with the growth of plant. In cut flower harvest, the thickness of stem increased with the concentration of nitrogen. There was a positive correlation between the thickness of stem and nitrogen, and the of stem was the thickest in the treatment of 107.4g/m2.4.Significance differences were found in flower diameter among the treatments of 10.8-107.4g/m2. The flower diameter was perfect in the concentrations of 64.2g/m2 and 42.6g/m2,2.2 cm and 2.5 cm, respectively.5.Significance differences were found in number of flower among the treatments of 10.8~107.4g/m2. The number of ray florets showed a trend of increase first and shorten later with the increase of nitrogen, tubular flower was on the contrary. The proportion of them was pecfect in the concentrations of 64.2g/ m2 and 42.6g/m2.6.The N content of leaves was similar at the moment of field planting, but significance differences were found among the treatments after two weeks. The N content of leaves went up when the N amount used increased, basically positive correlation. At harvest, the maximum of N content of leaves was 6.10% with the treatment of 107.4g/m2.
