Sloanea hemsleyana (Ito) Rehd. et Wils belongs to Sloanea genus of Elaeocarpaceae family. Sloanea hemsleyana is a kind of evergreen arbor,it has vertical trunk and profusion leaf to be enjoyed. Sloanea hemsleyana has white wood and tender vein which can be used as building and furniture material. As a kind of wild woody oile plant,it has big oile content and good quality to play a important role in the basic work of the state's energy tree species'selection and utilization. Ordinaryly, Sloanea hemsleyana reproduction method is seeding. But because its seeds can't be easily stored and the fruit rate and germination rate is very low, the seed source is deadly insufficient. Cutting reproduction can keep parents'excellent characters and shorten the breeding cycle, so the paper was focused on studying cutting propagating technology and rooting mechanism of Sloanea hemsleyana. The cutting propagating technology study includes the effects of different ends and specifications on the cutting rooting, the effects of different auxin kind and concectration on the cutting rooting, the effects of different cutting times on the cutting rooting and the effects of different medium on the cutting rooting. Physiological and biochemical research including dynamic changes of rooting-related physiological biochemical indexes (oxidases, nutriments, endogenesis hormones). We used paraffin section technology to study the anatomical proerty of adventitious roots. The results of cutting propagating experiment showed that the upper end in the crown had the highest rootage percent, the largest root number and the longest root length. The rooting rate of different parts of the same branch had significant difference the middle part has the highest rate, for 40.6%. The 15cm long cuttings rooting has the highest rooting rate, for 30%. The 0.3-0.6 cm thick cuttings has the highest rooting rate, for 75%. One cant below-kerf has the highest rooting rate, for 91.7%. The treatment which reserved 2-3 slices of 50% leaf has the best rooting effect. In the research of different auxin kind and concectration, the treatment of K-IBA 3000 mg/kg has the highest rooting rate, which is 50% higher than CK. In the research of different rooting time, the rooting rate was highest on September 18th, for 71.9%. Cuttings in the mixed mideam has the highest rooting rate, the the largest root number and the longest root length. The content of soluble sugar, soluble albumen, total nitrogen and the rato of C/N had a given rule with the development of rooting. These indexes had a downtrend in the callus induction period to meet the requirement of cell differentiation and splition, then they firmed up after the callus inducted to provide the nutrition for adventitious roots induction and form. In the cutting rooting process, SOD activity taken on the trend of decline after rising, and had the peak on the 20th day. POD activity is similar to SOD activity. When their activity rising, some kind of rooting restrain material can be destructed. The MDA content accumulated rapidly in the first and had a peak on the 20th day, then declined all the time. MDA has poison effects to cells, because it can destroy the membrane structure through combining with protein and enzyme on the membrane structure. It's also one of the aging indexes of plants. Auxins promoted rooting as they can reduce the MDA content effectively. The anatomical observation on cuttings showed that the rooting type of Sloanea hemsleyana belongs to the mutagenic root primordium type. There was no induced root primordium in cuttings. Most of the adventitious roots originated from cortical cells and vascular cambium cells. To be sum up, various substances had complex changes and affected the rooting effect collaboratively in the rooting process. If the rooting environment was suitable, and proper cutting propagating technology was adopted, the rooting rate maight be promoted significantly.
