| The drawbacks of availability and stability at the actual application handicap the development of the biological effects for the seed treatment under the electric field. We naturally associate whether the research of the electric field factor and micro-mechanism of significant biological effects can improve the application of the biological effects for the seed treatment under the electric field at the actual application?The details of experiment can be described as the following steps. Firstly, the caragana seeds were treated with sine wave at the frequency 1.0,1.4,7.0,9.0 and 11.0 kHz, and under the parallel plate electric field in the range of between 1.0 and 5.0 kV/cm for 5 and 10 min, respectively. Secondly, the water stress procedure was carried out under the simulative drought environment with PEG-6000 solution, which is of concentration (w/v) 15% at 25℃. Thirdly, the germination rates, SOD activity, POD activity and the content of MDA for the caragana seeds were obtained after the water stress procedure. Finally, the relative water content of plant, fresh root-top ratio, root length and crown height of the 25-day seedlings were analyzed. From the results of the drought resistance for caragana seeds and seedlings, the impacts of electric field on the seedlings are less effective than those of the seeds. Comparing with the those of matched group, the relative increase values of germination rate, SOD activity and POD activity respectively are 32.46%,45.91% and 58.10%, and the relative decrease value of the content of MDA is 35.39% of the caragana seed treated with sine wave at the frequency 7.0 kHz, and under the parallel plate electric field 1.0 kV/cm for 10 min, which is also better than those of others experimental group with significant condition effects. The results demonstrate that the seed treatment under the electric field can enhance the drought resistance of seeds with the increasing of the germination rates, SOD activity, POD activity and decreasing the content of MDA. In a word, the relatively lower strength and frequency of electric field treatments for 10 min are of more effective improvements than those of others for 5 min. |
