It is one of the typical areas which are ecologically fragile and sensitive and also one of the China's seventeen biodiversity conservation areas which is of global significance. Therefore, it is of significant importance to select the representative area of Three Gorges Reservoir (Chongqing), to study its temporal and spatial processes of land use/cover changes (LUCC), to analyze and evaluate the real and potential impact of LUCC on ecological environment and to further reveal the interaction between the system of land use/cover and that of regional eco-environment.It is the construction of Three Gorges project and the constant disturbance of human activities to land use/cover pattern in Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Chongqing) that results in the intense changes of surface processes such as land use /cover and influences the changes of regional eco-environment. In terms of the special ecological and geographical location and social and economic attributes of Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Chongqing), to explore the effective expression of response between the pattern of LUCC and eco-environment in Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Chongqing) not only contributes to provide scientific basis for eco-environment construction and improvement of its quality in Three Gorges Reservoir Region but enriches the theories of LUCC and ecology; at the same time, it has important theoretical and practical significance to guide the sustainable development of eco-environment construction and land resources in Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Chongqing).This thesis mainly deals with the following aspects.1. To employ Phaseâ…¢type map of land use/cover of Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Chongqing); with GIS functionality, to analyze the quantitative features, spatial distribution and trend of Phaseâ…¢land use/cover of Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Chongqing).2. To apply the rate of land use changes, the extent of land use and the index of landscape characteristics and summarize space-time features of land use changes of Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Chongqing). To adopt and combine a variety of research methods of land use lends itself to further illustrate the land use changes.3. In this paper, we put ecosystem service values in use to weigh the ecological values of corresponding land use types, so as to evaluate the ecological effect of regional land use change.4. With the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, the coupling evaluation index system of land use/cover and ecological environment is established; grey associative degree model and coupling degree model of land use/cover and eco-environment systems are built by grey associative analysis technique; and the main factors are quantitatively disclosed influencing the coupling of land use/cover and eco-environment systems in Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Chongqing). From the space-time perspective, spatial distribution and evolution law of coupling degree are analyzed in terms of Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Chongqing).
