Based on the land use change data from 1996 to 2008 of Chongqing, the diversity index, dominance index and centralization index were analyzed.Besides, the driving factors of cultivated land change were analyzed by Principal Component Analysis. Finally, the improved TOPSIS ideal solution are used to calculate land use rationality of Chongqing from 1996 to 2008.The research results of the present thesis are showed as follows:(1) The dynamic change of land useFrom 1996 to 2002, the change of the land for traffic is the most remarkable, followed by grassland. Between which, the grassland increased mainly because Chongqing became one of the grain to green experimental unit since 2000 and during the next two years completed 1.36 million Mu of forestry of pilot task. Traffic site change was due to large scale transportation facilities construction after the launch, transport construction has made breakthrough progress. From 2002 to 2008, Kaixian carp pool reservoir progressed smoothly,17 medium reservoir completed in 2007 and 8 reservoirs of "Ze Yu" first-term project basically completed, which makes the water facilities variation amplitude is most obvious. Meanwhile, the urban area carried out "landscape gardens city project"; the Three Gorges reservoir area brought the "blue hills and green waters" into force; the grain to green continued to implement made garden and wood lands area continued to increase. On time scales, the analysis of diversity showed that the land use diversity index experienced an upheaval into smooth period, and then to a slow growth period, which explained that the structure of land use in Chongqing was in adjustment, and showed tends gradually to be steady.Land functions of Chongqing were increasing. On the other hand, dominance index and centralization index have appeared to be on the contrary trend. Which showed that the area of land use type tend to be more average and diversification since 1996.Centralization index, dominance index and the second industry value appears to reverse the trend which reflected Chongqing changed gradually from large rural to large cities. After ten years development, infrastructure were developed, industrial were adjusted and restructed, vast resettlement project completed, etc. Those make land types area more scattered.(2) According to GM(1, 1),the forecasted data of the next year to 2020 show that the cultivated land and unused land area continue to reduce, while the construction land increases. According to the forecast, the arable land will decrease 390710.71 hectares, reducing by 17.5%; and the unused land will decrease 108643.68 hectares, reducing by 15.23%; while the construction land will increase 151123.47 hectares, increasing by 25.7%. The increase of the construction land mainly relies on the reduction of the cultivated land and the unused land.(3) The drive force of Cultivated Land ChangeThe author chose 11 relevant index to represent Chongqing's social and economic development indicator which may affect the area of cultivated land use.The Principal Component Analysis shows that the influence factors of the cultivated land use changes in Chongqing, including the growth of the population, the rapid development of urbanization, the economic development, the industrial structure change, the agricultural science and the improvement of technology and the peasant's living standard.(4) The reasonable analysis of the land use structureTOPSIS ideal solution is used to analysis the land use structure rationality between 1996 and 2008. The results show that the land use structure index ascends first and then descends. Reach maximum in 2007.
