Regeneration And Growth Of Pinus Koraiensis In Broadleaved Korean Pine Forest Of Changbai Mountain

Taking two broadleaved Korean pine forests in different succession stages in the north slope of Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve as research objects, we investigated forest structure, Korean pine characteristics of spatial distribution and regeneration and growth. A big difference existed in the community structure and Korean pine regeneration between primary forest and secondary forest. Although spatial heterogeneity in the horizontal level was greater in primary forest than in secondary forest, there were few Korean pine saplings in primary forest but as many as 3481 stems·hm-2 in secondary forest. It needed a given condition of shade for Korean pine regeneration and the recruiting of broad-leaved tree was in favour of it.In the succession of broad-leaved Korean pine forest, Korean pine regenerated well in median canopy density but its regeneration would be restricted seriously when canopy density was above 0.7. The finding of three young Korean pine growth of secondary forest on three conditions proved that intraspecific relationship was rather nervous for it, in which gorwth form good to bad was scattered,dominant,undominant and scattered and dominant grew more well than undominant. According to the growth feature analysis of 728 stem scattered Korean pine saplings in secondary forest, its growth was very slow and its growth rate of radial direction and height was 0.082 mm·a-1 and 4.32 cm·a-1 respectively and it needed about 30 years with Korean pine reaching breast height. In the analysis by sample plot of 10 m×10 m size, the spatial distribution pattern of Korean pine was random-gathered-random.
