From 2009 to 2010, choosing typical harm place of plateau pika, in jurisdiction of Azi livestock test station, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Maqu County,Gansu province, according to relationship between the vegetation character and the population density of plateau pika, through conventional agronomy disturbance technologies that are the fencing, riping, fertilizing, resowing and so on, and adjustment of herding pattern that are grazing time, grazing intensity and so on, promoting the vegetation traits turn toward the direction which benefits grassland productivity, but not favor the pika population expansion, thus realizes the goal of indirectly controling rodent damage by the using conventional measures to improve grassland, and strengthening nature restriction factor of pika. The main research results are as follows:1. On the plateau pika density gradient from high to low, the dominance of the Elymus nutans Griseb in community indicate regular change from low to high, the result showed extremely significant and linear relationship with mound density.2. After herd plateau pika dynamic is closely related with restoration speed of the vegetation biomass and height after grazing, does not have the relevance with the vegetation cover.3. In the plateau pika habitat, the dominance, the cover and the biomass of the elymus nutans in the vegetation community has reflected significantly that the vegetation is a factor of restriction to the plateau pika, therefore it has the possibility to use in empirical extrapolation to the plateau pika population density and the trend of development.4. Because elymus nutans grassland has the high economic value, thus receive dual effects both may the improved grassland, and may control the rodent damage through the method cultivating elymus nutans grassland directionally.5. It is a effective way controled rodent quantity that excessively graze in the plateau pika habitat using interspecific competition relations between the livestock and the plateau pika.6. The best operation time is in September and October's, because this processing time have achieved best effects in prevention and controlling rodents about "the method of drives the rodent by the high density herds ". In process, rodent quantity may suddenly reduce to zero in one month. Processing time in May to August also has the remarkable effect on to control growth of rodent quantity in this year.
