This study investigates the"Lysimachia foenum-graecum", one of the three main spices in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region."Lysimachia foenum-graecum"mainly grows in the subtropical regions of Jinxiu Dayao mountain. Its flavor is elegant and durable, which is of great value and could be highly developed in many fields. As early as Tang Dynasty it had been a kind of tribute. Therefore, its demand has been increased year in and year out. This makes it planted by people and enhances the development of planting techniques of the"Lysimachia foenum-graecum", at the same time, it promotes the related developments such as economy, culture and custom."Lysimachia foenum-graecum"had been recorded in ancient Chinese literature(set to county on BC 111), and can be seen in the traditional medical classics, and some introductions about ?Lysimachia foenum-graecum? can be also found in some historical material, local historical records, aroma books and some poems. After 1949, the study of"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"focuses on botany, chemistry, application of chemical industry and etc., while in the medical field there is only one piece of work. however, there is no research to investigate"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"on cultural level. This thesis is intended to fill in this blank.This thesis aims at the researches on"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"in Yao area by the traditional document method and the field investigation in anthropology. It makes comparative studies from multiple perspective. Through the trade of"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"of many centuries, this thesis shows a view of communication between the Dayao people and other peoples.The main work and conclusions is generally divided into six points. The first one is that the author points out that the"Ling Ling Xiang"of ancient times is the"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"though overall studies of traditional document methods and the field investigation. The second is that the"Ling Ling Xiang"does not grow in the Ling Ling District of Yong Zhou City of Hunan, but in a much vast regions which covers Hunan Province, Guangdong Province and Guangxi Autonomous Region, Dayao mountain included. The third point is that the author points out that the"Ling Ling Xiang"was confused with"Lan","Hui"and"Xun". The previous names are likely to be the different names of root and leaf of"Lysimachia foenum-graecum". The fourth one is that the similar techniques of producing"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"between ancient times and modern time. the fifth one is that the author concludes that in a definite time point, the"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"makes the Dayao mountain prosper. The last one is that with the introduction of"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"trade, this thesis points out that"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"trade promotes the cultural communication, technique spread and religious integration between Dayao Mountain and outside world. This thesis also makes some suggestions about the industry construction of"Lysimachia foenum-graecum".Because of experiment equipment,time and funds, this thesis is unable to make data analysis of"Lysimachia foenum-graecum"in function of contraception. However, it is hopeful to make it up as soon as possible.
