According to the method No. 2 of Griffing's dialle mating design, 6 parents of flue-cured tobacco with different genetic background and large genetic difference were used as materials to make a set of 15 F1 crosses. The experiments were conducted in three different locations of Xinyang, Zhengzhou and Shangqiu in 2003. Variation and stability of the parents and their F1 crosses of the content of potassium of different positions were analyzed. Meanwhile, the effects of measures of cultivation regulation on the content of potassium of flue-cured tobacco were studied. The main conclusions were as follows:1. The results of joint analysis of variance in multiple locations indicated that the variation of the content of potassium in flue-cured tobacco was significant or high significant among different genotypes, environments and positions, and showed wide variation for the content of potassium of flue-cured tobacco. Expect lower half stem, the content of potassium of other positions of flue-cured tobacco was high significant at 1% level, indicating the big influence of environments on the content of potassium of different genotypes.2. Descriptive statistics analysis was done for the content of potassium of 21 genotypes in flue-cured tobacco. (1) The content of potassium in upper leaves was 1.67%±0.32% with the coefficient of variation of 19.33% for parents, and 2.10%± 0.80% with the coefficient of variation of 38.28% for hybrids. (2) The content of potassium in cutters was 2.01% ±0.30% for parents, and 2.07%± 0.45% for hybrids. (3) The content of potassium in lugs was 2.23%± 0.31% for parents, and 2.25% ± 0.52% for hybrids. (4) The content of potassium in upper half stem was 1.95% ± 0.31% for parents, and 1.55%± 0.25% for hybrids. The coefficients of variation were almost same for parents (15.99%) and hybrids (15.91%). (5) Both the mean and standard deviation for parents (2.47%±0.47%) were bigger than those for hybrids...
