The conservation tillage technology is a new-style cultivation relative to the traditional farming. This method covers soil body with plenty of crop stalk and deserted stubble, simplifies cultivation to the degree in which seeds can pullulate, and controls weed, disease and vermin by pesticide. The main technologies include: none or less farming for fertilization;the processing of crop stalk and stubble;the prevention of weed, pest and disease;and subsoiling.This works is based on the reality of agricultural development in Shanxi province. Considering the local geographical situation, wheat and corn are selected as the investigated subjects to investigate and analyze the mechanized conservation tillage technology on dryland in Shanxi province.According to the cultivating tradition in Shanxi province, the experiments contain four kinds of tillage mode: corn one crop a year;wheat one crop a year;wheat and legume two crops a year;wheat-legume-orn three crops two year. The data of the yield, the input & output, and the capacity of water-saving of wheat, corn and soybean during three to six years in Linfen, Shouyang, Linyi, Zezhou and Gaoping areas in Shanxi province, has been analyzed by using SPSS software and LSD manner of ANOVA to investigate the influence on the yield, the moisture content of the soil, and the economic benefit (pure income) by the conservation tillage under the above four kinds of cultivating manner.The analysis results indicate that the conservation tillage can provide much more increase on yield than the traditional farming can do.The average increases of the four kinds of cultivating manner are 17. 01%, 15.64%, 3.82%, 16.19% respectively. And the benefits of the four kinds of cultivating manner are 68.5 RMB, 56.7 RMB, 94.1 RMB, and 199.8 RMB, respectively. It can be concluded that the conservation tillage has an advantage of holding water & soil, decreasing operation cost, improving zoological environment of agriculture, increasing organic object of soil, increasing theproduction & income, and it is an important approach to sustainable development of agriculture.
