The experiments were carried out on the farm of Henau agricultural university, during 2003-2005, using high-quality cultivar Yumai 34 as material. The objective of this study was to clarify the effect of sulphur on nitrogen, sulphur assimilation and grain yield and quality parameters, so as to provide some experimental foundations for reasonable sulphur fertilization of wheat. The results were summarized as follows:1. The orthogonal experiment of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulphur showed that effect of nitrogen, sulphur on wheat grains yield reached 1% significant level, while yield of phosphorus and potassium never reached the significant levels. Yield of N70P120K120S30, 577.0 kg/666.7m~2, was the highest of 9 treatments, and N240P180K0S30, 555.6 kg/666.7m~2, took second place. N70P120K180S30 should be the prime treatment, basing on T value.2. Under the condition of nitrogen supply of 240 kg/hm~2 and 150 kg/hm~2, sulphur fertilization could improve SPAD value of chlorophyll, and the more sulphur, the higher SPAD value. While under the condition of 330 kg/hm~2 and 0 kg/hm~2, there was inhibition instead. The soluble protein content of flag leaf, under the different nitrogen supply levels, increased with the growth process, and drop promptly after reaching the maximum at anthesis. Under the same nitrogen supply level, its content increased with sulphur fertilization augment. The Photosynthesis Velocity (Pn) of flag leaf drop gradually since flowering. Under N330 supply level, Pn drop with sulphur fertilization, but gently. Under N240 supply level, increased with sulphur fertilization, which was uniform with under N150 level.3. Sulphur fertilization could improve the activity of nitrate reductase (NR), Glutamine Synthetase (GS), and glutamic-pyruvic transaminaser (GPT), which was the key enzymes of nitrogen assimilation, and so improved the Nitrogen assimilation ability. But when the enzymes activity reached maximum under different nitrogen supply levels, the amount of sulphur needed was different. Under different nitrogen supply levels, the variation tendencies of three enzymes activity were uniform basically, namely NR, GS and GPT reach maximum at anthesis, 7d after anthesis, 13d after anthesis, respectively, then began to drop. Under N330 and N240 supply levels, the maximum activity of NR appeared at anthesis, then...
