48 healthy hybrid canines were divided into eight groups: Group A —control group, Group B—obstructed group I ( not removing obstructions), Group C—obstructed group II (removed obstructions without medication), Group D—antibiotic treatment group (Ampicillin+Gentamicin), group E—"QingKaiLing" (QKL) treatment group I (20ml), group F—QKL treatment group II (40ml), group G—QKL treatment group III (60ml) and Group H—combined therapy group (Ampicillin+Gentamicin+40ml QKL). All experimental groups (except for grup A) were made the pathological models of strangulated intestinal obstruction by ligging 20cm intestina parva and its blood vessels at the point of the ileum that is 20cm near to the ileocecal orifice. The changes of maleic dialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and endotoxin(ET) after obstructing and using QKL were checked dynamically, in order to observe the effect of elimilating endotoxin and free radicals with QKL, and conserve whether it has a significant dose-effect relationship or not.In order to press close to the actural veterinary clinic and analogue the clinical cases, a different method from former was used, through production pathological model and then administer. The results show that the levels of endotoxin and free radicals in blood plasma for all groups will rise as time goes on after obstruction. Endotoxin can make the animals fever, QKL can decrease the temperature significantly; there has no affect on endotoxin and free radicals using antibiotic only(P>0. 05) ; the density of endotoxin and MDA of all QKL-treatment groups is evidently lower than other groups (P<0. 01) (except the control group), and...
