The experiment was carried in experimental farm of Northeast Agricultural University. The experimental material was Dongnong423. This experiment studied the effect of 6 treatments (different density outside holes and seedlings number inside hole under same seedlings number inside hole and different density outside hole and same basic seedlings number conditions) on population structure of rice. Morphological indexes, physiological characteristic and yield components were tested and analyzed. The results were as followed:1. The Yield order wasT4>T2>T1=T6>T3>T5, the density outside hole of T4 was 12.5 hills per m2, and density inside hole was 2 seedlings.2. Change of stems and tillers, effective tiller rate, process of leaf age, leaf area index, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate, soluble sugar content, dry matter accumulation of T4 and T2 were best.3. Density outside and inside hole of T4 were best and then was T2. Density outside hole was 12.5 hills per m2, Density inside hole was 1 to 2 seedling(s). It could conclude that the range of best density outside hole of high-yield cultivation was about 16 hills per m2 according to the curve of yield under different treatments. After analyzed the experimental results, we could conclude that individual productive potential of rice could fully give play to with the decline of density outside hole. Therefore, in order to obtain high-yield, we should coordinate the relationship between population and individual through density outside hole and seedlings number inside hole. So according to population source and sink principle of rice, we could improve productive ability of plant (source) in a reasonable density outside hole, increase seedlings number inside hole properly, enhance grain number per panicle,...
