Wildlife resource is rich in our country, and has an important place in the world. But the wild animals and their habitats are threatening by human activations, such as over-hunting, denudation and pollution. It's no time to delay to protect wildlife resource, maintain ecological balance and guarantee harmonious relationship between human being and nature. Efficient protection calling up efficient management. At the recent time, technology in wildlife resource management is so old, manual managing remains still in our country. Thought all the wildlife-managing departments of all levels have their Portal Websites, only simple introductions and few data are available. Thus, this paper developed the management information system of wildlife resource via computer network technology. Put this system in wildlife resource managing, it can get the wild animal resources population and its spatial dynamic status promptly and accurately. It's a efficient way to protect and manage the wildlife.Guided by the theory of software engineering, by the way of software lifecycle, this system developed by ASP.NET. Based on system analysis and design, the system's structure,technical route and tools are decided, B/S mode is chosen and SQL Server 2000 is adopted. According to the needs of wildlife investigation, the database of this system is designed, it contains twelve datasheets in which the data of wildlife is stored. The data is coded according to uniform state coding standard and some data coded according to district or industry standard if no uniform state standard exists. The original data, including report forms, statistics and questionnaires, have been pro-processed. Classified the data into qualitative data and quantificational data, the quantificational data was input into the database directly and the qualitative data was conversed to quantificational data then input into the database. Then, clients can query the data after debugging the program and linked the database.This system contains six modules, respectively in charge of the management of data, picture, information query, client, system guide and system extending. The wildlife resource information including input, storage, query, browsing and printing can be processed in real time. Humanization was considered in the interface design and make it more succinct in order to promote run speed without weakening the function of system.Future amelioration was effectively considered in this system and ASP.NET was adopted, So that the system can be extended smoothly. With the popularization of internet, the use of this system will be more convenient and more prompt. It can save vast cost of time, manpower and material resource and it will contribute to the modernization, the optimization and self-decision-making.
