Growth differentiation factor(GDF-8), also known as myostatin, was first discovered as a TGF-βfamily member expressed in embryonic and adult skeletal muscle. This gene has priviously been implicated in the double muscling phenotyple in mice and cattle. This study was designed and aimed to indentify the single nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) of myostatin gene and population genetic analysis in various breeds including Yangzhou goose, Wan-xi white goose, Wu-long goose. About 1.2kb sequence of 3′regulatory region in goose, geopsittacus, and 2.5kb intron1 sequence of goose were identified by PCR and sequenced. Nucleotide acid homologies between goose and chicken were 83.8% similarities in sequence intron1.15 pairs of primers were designed based on the sequence of goose myostatin gene. Five of them were identified in goose myostatin gene by PCR-SSCP and sequencing. One of them was in 5′regulatory region(A→C), two of them were both in exon3 same region(A→C), two of them were in 3′regulatory region(A→G) 88bp, (G→T) 353bp respectively)Population genetic analysis indicated that AA genotype frequence(52%) of 5T5-5T6 was quite higher than BB (27%) and AB(21%). Genotype of AA in Wanxi white goose(60%) was higher than in Yangzhou goose(40%). The genotype of BB was highest in Yangzhou goose(37.5%), while the genotype of AB was highest in Wan-xi white goose(23.7%). Independent-sample T Test of this site indicated that the difference...
