In view of the classification method of urban green space system, the index selecation of landscape pattern and the distribution of urban green space system, the greenland geographic information system of Wuhan built-up area is established using the theory of landscape ecology and the technique of geographic information system. The elements of the urban green space system in Wuhan built-up area are analyzed according to the classification of greenland function, greenland patch size and greenland patch shape, respectively. The greenland landscape pattern in Wuhan built-up area is studied, and the difference of index value is compared based on the 3 kinds of greenland classification. The aim of this study is to probe into the urban greenland landscape pattern and compare the sensitivity of landscape pattern index on the different classification methods of green system, in the hope of providing reference for landscape ecological planning of urban green space system and further research of landscape pattern index. Some useful results are given as follows:1 The percentage of greenary coverage in Wuhan built-up area is lower (33.24%) comparing with that of cities in world developed countries and the national eco-garden city in China. The tendency of greenary coverage variation in administrative districts is old district (Jiang'an district, Jianghan district, Qiaokou district and Wuchang district) lower and new district (Qingshan district, Hanyang district, Hongshan district and Zhuankou district) higher, in which the percentage of greenary coverage of Hanyang district is highest (47.20%).2 According to the greenland function classification, the attached green space have relatively higher greening level. It have the largest area, accounting for 68.00% of the total area of green landscape, and the largest patch numbers, accounting for 97.39% of the total patch numbers of green landscape in Wuhan built-up area. However, the attached green space is scattered distribution with the smallest patch average area. The public park with the bad accessibility and 15.04% area in the landscape is dominanced by large municipal and district park, and seriously lacking in the community park, the residential group green spaces and street pleasance.
