The world-famous ornamental flower Hyacinth is favorable to people for its graceful bearing and gorgeous colors. Hyacinthine merchandise production in Holland, with quantities of bulbs sold world-wide, is flourishing and playing an important role in the flower industry. In China, pot-planted Hyacinthine is deeply enjoyed by white-collar consumers. Currently, the domestic studies on Hyacinth, mainly concentrating on the research of tissue culture and the measurement of pollen vitality, haven't yet gone further study into the cultivation habit and florescence control of Hyacinth .Therefore, researches on Hyacinth bulb production, growth habit, florescence control technique under weather conditions in our country, are of great importance to widen the domestic market in Hyacinth production industry.Four Hyacinth varieties were used in this experiment, namely the pink species Anna Marie, the yellow species City of Haarlem, the pink-white species Lady Derby, and the blue species Blue Jacket. The former two species, Anna Marie and City of Haarlem, were employed to conducted experiment on cultivation production and bulbs propagation in order to explore the bulb production and propagation regulation of different grades of bulb. While the bulbs of the remaining two species, Lady Derby and Blue Jacket, were employed to carry on hand-dig-bore experiment on its propagation in order to explore the feasibility that manual treatment enhances hyacinthine bulb reproduction coefficient. Bulbs of Anna Marie and City of Haarlem were also used in the observation of flower bud differentiation and the analysis of corresponding physiological and biochemical changes after cooling storage.
