This experiment was based on the measurement of soil chlorine content and tobacco chlorine content in Fujian tobacco croping area. Four different concentration of chlorine fertilizer had been used in this experiment to study various concentration of chlorine fertilizer influencing on tobacco yield, quality and the chemical element modification after storage 1 year. The results showed average content of soil chlorine in Fujian tobacco planting area was 23.75mg.kg-1, it belonged to under middle level, some soil type was severely lack of chlorine; while tobacco leaf chlorine content was only 0.35%, it was lower than average level 0.6%. Tobacco leaf yield could be greatly improved when the chlorine fertilizer was used within 0-112.2kg/hm2; but tobacco leaf quality was decreased when chlorine fertilizer was used over 112.2kg/hm2. Therefore, chlorine content of tobacco leaf was positively correlated to the chlorine fertilizer. More and more chlorine was assigned to tobacco leaf with the increase of chlorine fertilizer. Furthermore, chemical elements of tobacco leaf among different chlorine fertilizer treatment can be changed after the tobacco leaf dried, redried and storage. After 1 year storage, the hyroscopicity of tobacco leaf in higher concentration chlorine fertilizer was larger than that of tobacco leaf without and lower chlorine fertilizer. Soluble sugar and nicotine content were decreased with the use of chlorine fertilizer and there was no carrotene difference among various parts of tobacco leaf in various concentration of chlorine fertilizer. N content of processed tobacco leaf was decreased with fertilizing Cl 0-56.1 kg/ hm2. On the countrary, the N content was increased fertilized with Cl 112.2-168.3 kg/ hm2 . In addition, the K/Cl ratio of upper and middle part of tobacco decreased and the lower part leaf increased oppositely. As a result, it proved that chlorine can quicken the tobacco's sopping up in the process of storage, strengthen the breathing consumption of tobacco, increase the loss of the dissoluble sugar, especially the nicotine of tobacco. Resultantly it would go against the further quality improvement. According to the criterion of chlorine amount of high-qualitied tobacco, i.e. 0.6%, it had been decided that the amount of chlorine fertilizer used in this experiment was 56.1-60.45 kg/ hm2.
