This experiment adopted the any block in random design. It established three levels of soil water content( 55%~65%,75%~85%,95%~100%), there were three replications for every treatment. To study the effect of different soil water on quanlity and yield of no-tillage potato covered with straw from agronomic characteristics, biochemistric and physiologic characteristics, economic outputs, quality, and so on. The results were as follows,1 Effect of soil water on agronomic characteristics of no-tillage potato covered with straw.Plant height and plant canopy of the treatment 2 is the maximum, the second is the treatment 1, the least is treatment 3. So within soil water content( 55%~85%) scope, plant height and plant canopy increased very significantly with the increase of soil water. Within soil water content( 55%~85%) scope, the rate of germination increased with the soil water content increased. The difference of rate of germination between treatment 1 and treatment 2, both of treatment 1 and treatment 2 and treatment 3 was significant.2 Effects of soil water on biochemistry and physiology of no-tillage potato covered with strawThe results showed, effects of soil water on photosynthesis rate, root vitality, chlorophyll content, nitratase activity, amylase activity and invertase activity were significant. Within soil water content( 55%~85%) scope, photosynthesis rate increased significantly with the increase of soil water, otherwise photosynthesis rate decreased significantly. It would hastens the increasing of amylase activity when soil water lowered. When soil water was too much, amylase activity was limited significantly, root vitality and chlorophyll content decreased. Soil water was too much or deficiency, the activities of invertase and nitratase were reduced.3 Effect of soil water on yield of no-tillage potato covered with strawThis experiment showed that effect of soil water on dry matter content of tuber was significant, high or low soil water content reduced dry matter content of tube. Wthin soil water content( 55%~85%) scope, the tuber number of single plant, the weight of signal tuber and the amount of the big and small tuber per 666.67 m~2 were increasing significantly with the increase of soil water, so the yield of tuber increased significantly.4 Effect of soil water on quanlity of no-tillage potato covered with strawWithin soil water content( 55%~85%) scope, N,P,K content of tuber increased with the increase of soil water. Soluble sugar content of tuber of treatment 2 was least, indicating that too much or least soil water would reduce quanlity of tuber significantly. Within soil water content( 55%~85%) scope, with the increase of soil water, soluble protein content of tuber reduced, starch content of tuber were increased very significantly, reducing sugar of tuber decreased notably, but when soil water of treatment was too much, reducing sugar of tuber increased very significantly.
