Water effficiency of canal system and paddy field water consumption are important basic data in planning, management and reasonable operation of irrigation area, and rational deployment of water resources; which can reflect syntheticly the situation of canal system, znd managing level of irrigation area; which are the important parameters in water use planning and water balance calculation. But until today, there are still not practical data of them for the areas in Shenyang city.In this study, through laboratory experiment the soil texture were analyzed, and basing on it classified naming of the soils of all levels of typical canals and the paddy field in 10 main irrigation areas of Shenyang city were conducted (including Shifosi irrigation area, Shenfu irrigation area, Zhujiapu irrigation area, Hunpu irrigation area, Yubaotai irrigation area, Bayi irrigation areas, Dazha irrigation area, Liaopu irrigation area, Hunnan irrigation area and Hunbei irrigation area). Through field double-ring infiltrateon experiment, the soil penetration coefficients of all levels of canals and the paddy fields of the mentioned 10 irrigation areas above were accomplished, and according to them, canal and paddy field leakage losses were calculated. Using Penman-Monteith model, and based on meteorological data from1995 to 2005, paddy rice's water requirement for average water year in the 10 irrigation areas during different and whole growing seasons were calculated. Meanwhile, the eavaporation losses for average water year were computed basing on the same climatic data. Finally, the canal water efficiency of all levels of canals, canal system water efficiency and paddy field water consumptions of the 10 main irrigation areas in Shenyang city were put out. The finally results of this research were summarized and expressed by tables or figures through Photoshop and Excel; which are clear and user friend, so that the complicated study results can be refered or used easily in reasonable operation, management of irrigation areas, as well as in optimized utilization, management, distribution and rational deployment of water resources for all levels of managers and technical personnels in Shenyang water conservation system.
