Floral opening character has close correlation with benefits of hybrid wheat seed production. When CHA is used in hybrid wheat seed production, its effect on wheat's growth and development should be considered. In order to evaluate the effect of CHA on floral opening character, we sprayed SQ-1 over XiNong1376 to induce male sterility, the rule of flowering of CHA1376 was investigated; effect of concentration, pH and application stage on sterility rate, glume opening degree and synchronization of flowering had been studied, too; we also studied the changes of dry weight and water content in lodicules before and after floret opening. The result showed as follows:1,Compared with 1376, anthesis of CHA1376 delays 2~3day, angle of glume opening is smaller, the lasting time from glume opening to glume closing is more longer; angle of glume opening changed rapidly during day in initial flowering stage, variance range becomes small as the process proceeds; CHA1376 population has no peak of flowering, the whole process can last 4-8days; a majority of the flowers reach their opening peak between 9:00 and 11:00 on a sunny day, a second flush of flower opening occurs around 15:00 to17:00; high temperature can speedup the procession of flowering, temperature high at night can make the peak of flowering ahead; when CHA1376 (4.5㎏/ha×pH7.15×Feeks8.5) reaches its Maximal Angle of Glume Opening , its glume opening degree is 1.98mm;S-1376 has a larger glume opening degree and a lower variation compared with CHA1376; exsertion of the stigma rate is very low in CHA1376 and S-1376.2,Sterility rates are generally higher as the concentration of SQ-1 increases, alkalescent pH and Feeks8.5 result in high sterility rates ,too; treatments with high sterility rates always accompany low glume opening degree; it is different to balance the conflict between glume opening degree and sterility rates; spraying SQ-1 at Feeks8.0 can result in the best synchronization, but CHA application stage's effect on synchronization is very complicated. For XiNong1376, treatment with 4㎏/ha set, pH=8.0 and Feeks8.5 can reach sterility rate for hybrid wheat seed production needs and meanwhile have relatively large glume opening degree.3,Florets of male sterile wheat induced by SQ-1 can open twice. The first floret opening with the action of lodicules lasted only for a short period, then the glume opening degree decrease rapidly , the second floret opening starts 1~2days after the first floret opening. This phenomena are more clearly observed in low CHA concentration application(s3.0,4.0㎏/ha).4,Lodicules of XiNong1376 has a dramatic increase in dry matter at the beginning of floret opening, shortly after flowering, dry matter quickly evacuates; lodicules of S-1376 and CHA1376 have smaller increase in dry matter at the beginning of floret opening, dry matter changes a little after flowering.
