The Qinghai-Tibet railway ,which is situated on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, crosses the frozen soil.However,the complicated physiognomy cells and multitudinous taches that produced water and soil loss.Water and soil conservation is one of the important research subjects of GIS application, and it provides abundant information data and processing means for Water and soil conservation, and makes the work of soil and water conservation to a higher level.makes the work of soil and water conservation to a higher level. Soil Erosion Model (SEM) is the effective tool of predicting soil erosion, monitoring the configuration measure of the soil and water conservation, optimizing water and soil resource utilization.First of all, the paper aimes at the characteristics of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau,and combining the ground investigation, the research results of water and soil loss along the railway indicates that all kinds of soil erosion,like freeing and melting erosion, pneumatic erosion and hydrodynamic erosion, are existing in a interlaced state, water and soil loss is complicated and various.Then, the paper demonstrates the progress of the research of soil erosion model, makes use of Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) to deeply analyze the rainfall erosibility factor, the soil erodibility factor, vegetation coverage factor, the factor of length and gradient of slope, the water and soil conservation measure factor, and extracts the value of these factors based on the DEM grids, realizes the evaluation of soil erosion measurement about the Qinghai-Tibet railway Geermu-Lasa section.At last, using the principle of water and soil conservation and according to the relationship of the external strength with the soil body resistibility, cure fiozen soil protection measures, protecting slope using vegetation measures, engineering measures together durmgihe construction of the Qinghai-Tibet railway.
