1. A new clone of waxberry, which has high quality and thin pedicel, was selected fromseedlings, and denominated temporarily as 'Dongting No.1'. The fruits are softy, juicy,sweet and heavy fragrant. The edible rate is as high as 95.56ï¼…and the soluble solid contentis about 11ï¼…. The cultivar has good stress resistance and matures in first June.2. Inter-simple sequence repeat-polymerase chain reaction (ISSR-PCR) was used toevaluate for its potential use in the identification of 14 waxberry cultivars and the goodgroups of 'Dongting No. 1'. 8 out of 11 ISSR primers could generate reproduciblepolymorphic fragments. The ISSR-PCR assay revealed total number of 58 DNA bands,which of 42 bands were polymorphic (the percentage of polymorphic bands, PPB=72.4ï¼…).Software was used to calculate the genetic distance and a molecule dendrogram wasconstructed based on cluster analysis. According to the result of ISSR, these 15 cultivars ofwaxberry surveyed were classified into five major groups, and the genetic relationship of'Dongting No.1'and 'Xiaoyexiti' was approximate.3. The results showed that the ratio of optical fertilizer to 'Dongting No.1' bearing-agetrees is N:P2O5:K2O=1:0.378:0.919 all the year around. Flower and fruit managementshould follow the rules - thinning blossom and fruit, accelerating to sprout the spring ripein on-year; spraying fertilizer at prevernal, elevating the rate of flower formation and fruitsetting in off-year, and the optical of clipping should at spring.
