Energy crisis is the huge challenge that mankind will be faced with. Theexploitation of biological energy has become a hot point in the present world.Jatropha curcas Linn is a semi-fleshy small tree or large shrub. Belonging toEuphorbiaceae family, Jatropha curcas, which has highly tolerance to droughtand nutrient deficiency. The main components in physic nut seed are fats,proteins and terpenes. Oil content of kernel is about 50%, which can be used asbiological diesel oil without pollution. Curcin, seed oil and other extracts fromphysic nut seeds can be used as biological pesticide. Physic nut is an importantstrategic resource with great economic value. Recently,the United Nationssupported the project of Jatropha curcas Linn culture.The exploitation andutilization of Jatropha curcas Linn has been done in the poor areas as ecologyconstruction.China government also has taken it seriously and has constitutedmany policies in order to promote it.Guangxi is located south of China,andsubject to the tropical and subtropical monsoon climate, with abundant heat and plentiful rainfall.So there are abundant of plant species which distributed to1778 genera and 288 families, which ranks the second in all provinces ofChina.Especially, south-west of Guangxi is not only the one of the three centreof endemism in Chinese biodiversity, but also the one of the fourteen keyregions of the land biodiversity with international meaning. There is abundant ofJatropha curcas Linn resources.The Jatropha curcas Linn mainly distribute inQinzhou, Bobai, Rongxian, Nanning, Longzhou, Baise and so on,and especiallyconcentrate in southwest of Guangxi.This research is focus on the distribution ofJatropha curcas Linn in the southwest of Guangxi.It researchs its growth ofbranches, leaves, fruits and the quantity of fruits and the oil content ofkernel.The research analyzes the correlation with the growth characteristic andthe environment factors,such as temperature, precipitation, evapotranspiration,altitude and so on.And it makes a conclusion that sunlight, temperature andevapotranspiration play key role in the growth of Jatropha curcas Linn; the soiland altitude influences hardly in its growth.Abount of sunlight, highertemperature and higher evapotranspiration can improve the oil content ofkernel.And culturing Jatropha curcas Linn as energy plant in large scope inGuangxi is practicable.
