In this study, the cDNA fragments containing L gene 3′terminal of twenty-onerabies virus isolates from Guangxi Province were amplified by reversetranscription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). The cDNA fragments were clonedand then sequenced. The nucleotide sequence of these cDNA fragments mentioned above and theirdeduced amino acid sequences of L gene 3′terminal fragment of these isolates werecompared with that of GXN119, the other street rabies virus strains, fixed virus strainsand rabies-related virus strains published previously. The results indicated all rabiesvirus isolates from Guangxi were genotypeⅠof Lyssavirus and could be divided intothree groups asⅠ,ⅡandⅢ. Thirteen isolates GX014, GX260, GX08, GX195, GXHX,GXQZD, GXNND, GXWX, GXLA, GXSL, GX01, GX09 and GX091belongto groupⅠ. Eight isolates GX074, GXPX, GXPXD, GXLCC, GXPL, GXBM,GX219 and GX304 belong to groupⅡ. GXN119 belongs to groupⅢ. The nucleotidehomologies of groupⅠwere 96.9% to100.0%. The homologies of deduced aminoacid of groupⅠwere 98.2% to 100.0%. The nucleotide homologies of groupⅡwere96.5 % to 99.7%. The homologies of deduced amino acid of groupⅡwere 97.8% to100.0%. The nucleotide homologies and deduced amino acid of twenty-two isolatesfrom Guangxi were 85.6% to 100.0%. Their homologies of deduced amino acid wereranged from 91.6% to100.0%. The nucleotide homologies between strains in Guangxiand fixed strains were 79.5% to 86.9%; and that of strains in Guangxi andrabies-related virus strains were 65.7% to 70.3%. Their homologies of deducedamino acid were ranged from 85.8% to 96.5% and 70.4% to 76.5%, respectively. The nucleotide sequence analysis showed that the genetic relationship amongtwenty-two rabies virus isolates was closely. And it is a great difference between strainsin Guangxi and fixed rabies virus strains and rabies-related virus strains. By thephylogenetic analysis, the twenty-two rabies virus isolates from Guangxi were could bedivided into three groups. This result is coincident with that of based on the homologiesof N and G..
