In recent years, more and more importance is attached to the forest resource, as a material resource and an environmental resource, which is crucially important to the ecological balance of the earth. GIS is widely used to help the forestry administrators to collect the information of forest resources effectively and promptly and make scientific decisions accordingly. With the rapid development of web-technology, how to apply the web-technology to the other technologies has become a hot topic in various fields. WebGIS, the combination of Web and the traditional GIS, can be used to facilitate the management of forest resource and make reasonable policies. It can also realize the real communication of information. Meanwhile, digitalization, visualization, and virtual emulation are on the top of the list of its advantages.Many researchers adopt Java and NET to develop WebGIS. It is the present mainstream of this field. The author applies Java to construct the system of J2EE and studies the means of updating the data of forest resource. The system uses the ideas of the MVC Model for reference. The author tries to make a deep discussion on the core technologies, such as JSP, JSF, JAVABEAN etc. in the process of the implementation of the system functions. The packaging implementation of WebGIS' functions, with the help of the functional storeroom and the API function storeroom provided by ArcGIS Sever 9.0, makes it possible to carry out the management of the spatial data of forest resource effectively. The system indicates the process of displaying the forest resource datum, and with the application of the technology of JSp building the login interface, the frame of forest resource WebGIS and the display interface. Meanwhile, it has the function of travel, query and edit. With the application of the B/S, the system can be divided into different logical blocks and it is much clearer, more flexible and more extensible. Therefore, it will greatly improve the efficiency of developing. Furthermore, people can share both the information and the functions, which will centralize and integrate the management and maintenance of the data of different regions.
