Six representatives of indoor hanging plants were selected as materials undergoing fourdifferent light treatments. They were Commelina communis, Nematanthua cheerio,Chlorophytum comosum, Zebrina Perdula and Hederahelix hightes. The paper studied the abilityof oxygen releasing, leaf anatomy, physiological and biochemical characteristic of these plants bythe methods of anatomy and physiology. The results are as follows:1 The leaf mass per area, length, width, and area of six indoor hanging plants increasedgradually along as the light decreased. But their mass per area decreased, in lower light intensity, plants increased their leaf area to get more energy to adapt to lower intensity of light.2 There were differences in stomata density of lower epidermis among the six indoorhanging plants. In lower intensity of light, their stomata density decreased, Higtess Miniatureand Nematanthua had greater stomata density than the others, Commelina communis andZebrina Perdulaula's stomata density were more lower, Pliea mollis and Zebrina pendula werein the middle.3 The leaf anatomy of six indoor hanging plants was two kinds of types, one wasChlorophytum comosum, Commelina communis and Zebrina pendula, which were no typicalpalisade tissue, the others including Higtess Miniature, Nematanthua cheerio and Pliea mollishad.Based on the results above, Chlorophytum comosum, Commelina communis and Zebrinapendula had higher ability of shade tolerance, Higtess Miniature, Nematanthua cheerio and Plieamollis shade tolerance were relatively weaker.4 The chlorophyll content and the ratios of chlorophyll a to chlorophyll b of six indoorhanging plants had a direct relationship with light, With the increasing of sun shading, thechlorophyll content in leaves of all the six plants increased and the ratios of chlorophyll a tochlorophyll b decreased. According to their plasticity index of the ratios of chlorophyll a tochlorophyll b, Cornmelina communis, Zebrina pendula shade-tolerance were best, Hedera helixhightess and Nematanthua Cheerio were relative enjoy light, Chlorophytum comosum andPliea mollis's shade-tolerance were between them. 5 With the reducing of light, beside Chlorophytum comosum, others Soluble carbohydratecontent of leaves decreased, but their plasticity index of Soluble carbohydrate content were nomore difference.6 Different intensity of light affected on soluble protein content of six indoor hanging plants. With the decreasing of light intensity, the soluble protein content decreased among them, Zebrinapendula decreased least compared with others. Zebrina pendula had higher ability of shadetolerance, Higtess Miniature and Nematanthua cheerio had weaker shade-tolerance,Chlorophytum comosum and Pliea mollis were in the middle.7 The Light compensation point of six indoor hanging plants was the following order:Higtess Miniature>Nematanthua Cheerio>Pliea mollis>Chlorophytum comosum>Commelinacommunis>Zebrina pendula. Light saturation point of them was HigtessMiniature>Nematanthua cheerio>Chlorophytum comosum>Pliea mollis>Commelinacommunis>Zebrina pendula according to the Photosynthesis characteristic, the six indoorhanging plants' shade-tolerance was Zebrina pendula>Commelina communis>Chlorophytumcomosum>Pliea mollis>Nematanthua cheerio>Hedera helix hightess.8 The oxygen releasing ability showed that the plant, which had high light compensationpoint, had higher ability of oxygen releasing in high intensity of light, which had lower lightcompensation point had higher ability of oxygen releasing in lower intensity of light.9 By the path analysis, these six indoor hanging plants had the shade-tolerance in thefollowing order: Zebrina pendula>ommelina communis>Chlorophytum comosum>Plieamollis>Nematanthua cheerio>Hedera helix hightess.
