This study was carried out on the cattle manure composting by using three kinds ofgranularities of corn stock. The purpose of the study was to study the effect of differentgranularities of corn stock on cattle manure aerobic composting. And through comparing theparameters to choose which granularity would be suitable the cattle manure composting. It wouldoffer the theoretical foundation for cattle manure compost and recycle treatment. This study had three treatments, the corn stock length was three centimeter in the firsttreatment; the corn stock length was one centimeter in the secoend treatment; the corn stock wascrumbled to pieces by machine in the third treatment. A forced aeration static compoting box wasused in the experiment. Before being put into the box, the corn stock was mixed with cattle manure. The initial C/N was 27:1 and initial water content was 65%. A time-temperature feedback systemwas used to contral the ventilation. During the study, temperature and oxygen consumption wererecorded. And water content, pH value, organic matter content, manure coliform group value, ascarid egg and Germination Index were measureed by sampling regularly on 0d, 3d, 7d, 14d, 21d,28d and 35d.The results showed that the three kinds of granularities of corn stock could be composted withcattle manure successfully, but the leptos corn stock had better effect than the others. Thetemperature of above 50℃in the pile could be observed after 19 hours of composting and kept 13days.Several results were obtained in the research, as followed:(1) At the end of the research, the color of the leptos corn stock with cattle manure was darkbrown, and the color of the other granularities corn stock with cattle manure was brown. The odourwas disappeared completely. White myceliums was found in the pile.(2) The leptos corn stock as the admentment to compost with the cattle manure needed 19hours to get the temperature of above 50℃and it maintained 13 days. The large corn stock needed22 hours to get the temperature of above 50℃and it maintained 7 days. The middle corn stockneeded 18 hours to get the temperature of above 50℃and it maintained 9 days.(3) The variation of oxygen consumption rate of the three treatments were basically the sameas the variation of the temperature. The oxygen consumption rate in the middle site was the fastest, and next was the upper site, and the lower site was the slowest. And the leptos corn stock treatmenthad the faster oxygen consumption rate than the other two treatments;(4) During the course of the composting, the water content of each group declined firstly, andthen rised, and declined again;(5) The C/N ratios of different treatments were dropped from 27:1 to 11.90:1~12.96:1;(6) The pH value of each group rised firstly and then declined. The pH value of each groupwas near at the end of the experiment.(7) The Germination Index of the three treatments were all more than 80%.(8) All parasite eggs were killed in every treatment and manure coliform group value wasabove 0.01, Sanitation index of groups met the national standard of China Sanitary standard for thenon-hazardous treatment (GB7959-87).Through the results of the study, this study drew some conclusions which were helpful to thecomposting technique. The different guanularities of corn stock as the admentment to compost with the cattlemanure all could maintain 5~7 days above 50℃, T value were all under 0.6, manure coliformgroup value and parasite eggs were all met the national standard of China Sanitary standard for thenon-hazardous treatment, so the three treatments were all successful. The corn stock which was crumbled to pieces by machine reached 50℃first and maintained13 days, oxygen consumption rate was fastest, so the corn stock which was crumbled to pieces hadbetter effect than the others. At the 28th day, T value was 0.55 of the corn stock which was crumbled to pieces, but theother two treatments were above 0.6, and GI value first reached 80%. The corn stock which wascrumbled to pieces was not had the better effect than the others but maintained the standard at the28th day.
