The Effect of different source selenium on reproductive performance of sows,selenium concentration in milk, tissue selenium deposition of piglets and bloodbiochemical parameters were investigated in this research. Single factor design wasadopted and 15. Duroc×Landrace gestation sows with similar littermate or semilittermate, body weight (initially 250 Kg of mean body weight) and gestation day(84-86 day) were randomly allocated into three treatments with 5 replicates in eachtreatment and 1 sow in each replicate: 0.3mg/kg sodium selenite Se group, 0.2mg/kgselenium-yeast group and 0.5mg/kg selenium-yeast group, respectively. The basic dietswere the same in all groups and based on corn-soybean, the pregnancy sows were fedon pregnancy diets and after parturition the sows were fed on lactation diets.number oflive piglets/little at birth,birth weight of piglets,7,14,21 day weaning weight, Selenium concentration in milk and tissue selenium concentration and, GSH-PX,MDA,IgA,IgG,IgM and IGF-1 parameters of piglets blood and spleen index wereinvestigated.The results are as follows:1. There have no significantly difference in number of live piglets/little at birth, birth weight of piglets, weaning weight of piglets among the three treatments, 0.5(mg/kg) selenium-yeast group>0.2 (mg/kg) selenium-yeast group>0.3 (mg/kg)sodium selenite group. The 21 day body weight of piglets from the sows feed on0.5mg/kg selenium-yeast (5.98 Kg) was much higher than that of 0.2mg/kgselenium-yeast group (5.33 kg) and 0.3mg/kg sodium selenite group(5.24 kg) (P<0.01).2. The milk selenium was higher in selenium-yeast group than that of the sodiumselenite group. The selenium in Colostrums of 0.5mg/kg selenium-yeast group (0.29mg/l) was much higher than that of the 0.2mg/kg selenium-yeast group (0.19mg/l) and0.3mg/kg sodium selenite group(0.16 mg/l) (P<0.01). The selenium in normal milk of0.5mg/kg selenium-yeast group was higher than that of the other two groups(P<0.05). 3. The piglets from the 0.5mg/kg selenium-yeast group sows has a higher seleniumconcentration in blood plasma (0.073mg/l) than that of the sodium selenite group(0.048mg/l)(P<0.05), and there have no difference between the 0.2mg/kg selenium-yeastgroup and sodium selenite group. The selenium deposited in lion of piglets from thesows fed on 0.5mg/kg selenium-yeast was 0.23 mg/kg, which was much higher thanthat of the that of the 0.2mg/kg selenium-yeast group (0.15mg/kg) and sodium selenitegroup (0.08mg/kg) (P<0.01), and the lion selenium in piglets from 0.2mg/kgselenium-yeast group was higher than that of the 0.3mg/kg sodium selenite group (P<0.05).4.The sows fed on 0.5mg/kg selenium-yeast highly significantly increased thekidney selenium deposition in piglets (0.88 mg/kg) when compared with that of (0.64mg/kg) (P<0.01), also the difference between the 0.2mg/kg selenium-yeast group andsodium selenite group attained to the significantly level(P<0.05). In liver the seleniumconcentration of piglets from 0.5mg/kg selenium-yeast groups sows(0.66 mg/kg) washigher than that of the sodium selenite group0.37 mg/kg (P<0.05), and there has nodifference between the 0.2mg/kg selenium-yeast group and sodium selenite group. Theselenium shows a higher deposition in kidneys of the piglets, which was followed byliver and muscle.5.The 0.5mg/kg selenium-yeast supplementation on the diets of the sow efficientlyincreased the IGF-1 concentration in the plasma of the piglets, which was 1.698 ng/mlcompared with that of 1.471 ng/ml in 0.2mg/kg selenium-yeast group and 1.458ng/ml insodium selenite group(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.selenium-yeast can improve the reproduction performance of sow;2.To the reproduction performance of sow, there were similar effect between0.2mg/kg selenium-yeast group and 0.3mg/kg sodium selenite;3.selenium-yeast can increased the selenium concentration in Colostrums and milkand tissue of piglets, especially of in the muscle;4. selenium-yeast can improve immune function;5. selenium-yeast can improve IGF-1 level of organism, promote piglets growth.
