Medicago varia Martin. cv. Caoyuan No.3 is a perennial herbage, it is known as legumes, Lucerne genus. It has been cultivated by Prof. YUN Jinfeng and MI Fugui in Inner Mongolia Agricultural University. It has been verified by national verification committee of herbage species in 2002, and registered as new species.The experiment site e tuo ke qian qi Inner Mongolia, we used the second years yield.The experiment bases on the principle of formula fertilization. The regularity of Lucerne fertilizer need, the soil properties to provide fertilizer, and the effect of fertilizer are considered fully. We apply fertilizer N, P and K in proper ratio in order that it can provide Lucerne with equal nutrition to grow well. It is the first time to research its principle of fertilizer in domestic. Through two-year systematic research to fertilize, we have grasped the regularity of fertilizer need of Medicago varia Martin. cv. Caoyuan No.3 in e tuo ke qian qi in Inner Mongolia. It provides theoretical base and practical conduct for local cultivate industry of Medicago varia Martin. cv. Caoyuan No.3.The main results of the experiment are:(1) If we only apply fertilizer N to Lucerne, There is a significant effect with fertilization in 200Kg/hm2, and the dry herbage was 14078kg/hm2 .If we only apply fertilizer P to Lucerne, There is a significant effect with fertilization in 300Kg/hm2, the dry herbage was 14808kg/hm2. There is no significant effect if we only apply fertilizer K.(2) The different combination of fertilizer to examine the herbage yield shows that there is the highest yield of dry herbage with the combination of N2P2K2 (applying fertilizer N with 200kg/hm2, fertilizer P with 200kg/hm2K, and fertilizer P with 200kg/hm2),the dry herbage was 15202.4kg/hm2And there is a significant difference with CK(P<0.05). The analysis of economical benefit to fertilize shows the net profit that the fertilizer can bring is increased by 2632.96-3218.96 yuan/hm2.(3) If we only apply fertilizer N to Lucerne, the seed yield decreases obviously with the increase of the fertilizer. Fertilizer P is applied only which has a great effect on increasing the seed yield. If p 262kg/hm2 the seed yield was 506.26kg/hm2. There is no significant increase of seed yield if we apply fertilizer K only.(4) The different combination of fertilizer to examine seed yield shows there is the most seed yield with the combination of N2P3K2 (applying fertilizer N with 135kg/hm2, fertilizer P with 262kg/hm2K, and fertilizer P with 180kg/hm2),the seed was 549.45kg/hm2.And there is a significant difference with CK(P<0.05). The analysis of economical benefit to fertilize shows the net profit that the fertilizer can bring is increased by 2542.4~2868.0 yuan/hm2.
