In accordance with the landscape and rice planting characteristics of Hunan Province, this paper has reviewed the development history of, and classified the paddy field plough-and-harrow cultivator of the province. It has briefly described the domestic and foreign research and development situation of the machines, and introduced the origin and emerges of a single-wheel paddy field plough-and-harrow cultivator. Through contrasting the structural features of the main paddy field machines such as the single- and double-wheel plough-and-harrow cultivator, the structural faults of the single-wheel plough-and-harrow cultivator are primarily demonstrated, correction measures are further proposed. In addition, the comparative analysis on the parameters and performances of various types of gearboxes has been made.In order to save its raw materials, reduce the weight, cut down the expenses and improve its performances, this paper uses the gear transmission case of Xiangyuan -AQG plough-and-harrow cultivator as an example, to develop the mathematical model of its optimal design. Under the condition that the requirements for the transmission ratio, power and relevant usage of the gear transmission case are met, this model can be used to produce the optimum production process, the more reasonable parameters for the case so that its total cost of both raw materials and production reaches the lowest level. Based on the results produced by the model, the improvements are made on the design and production of the gear transmission case. The results indicate that the improved case reduces weight by 25% and cost by 10 -26.3% in comparison with the original one.The paper has also studied automatice ploughing machines, designed the working principles and electric circuit of radio remote control for them, and briefly introduced the working status of the remote control double-wheel plough-and-harrow cultivator. It has nine channels of radio remote control technologies such as start, clutch, shift gears, throttle, change direction, etc. and an execution system. Unmanned, highly automatic field operations can be carried out by means of this machine. Therefore, the intensity of labour is greatly relieved, and operational safety is extremely improved.It, based on computing results for machine and tool quantities of previous years, has further applied optimum regression model to forecast the development scale and trends of the plough-and-harrow cultivator. This article then suggests that economic and protective plough-and-harrow cultivator should be developed and focused on the following four aspects: developing highly productive machines; developing low oil consumption machines; socialising the production of the paddy field plough-and-harrow cultivator; developing highly automatic plough-and-harrow cultivator to reduce labour intensity.According to the data of NONG YE QU HUA, and set up equation of timeliness cost yield. Further more, making the sum of the cost of production including the fixed cost per year and variable minimum and timeliness lost yield, it set up non-linear programming model that object to get the least cost of production of plough-and-harrow cultivator. On the base of non-linear programming optimal equipment model, analyzed the ezample with 40% ratio of the area where people plough soil by machines, and obtainrd a more superior result than that reality.Based on experiment, the results are reliable, thus the article has provided the valuable reference for development of the paddy field plough-and-harrow cultivator in HUNAN Province.
