| Beijing is the capital of China, the study on high conservation value forests in beijing is important to develop the forest certification, forest management, landscape planning, nature reserves planning.Based on the concept of high conservation value forest that defined by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), we combined the present situation of forest resources with the previous research results and consulted the experts, put forward the identifying criterion and management strategies of high conservation value forest in Beijing.The criteria system of high conservation value forest in Beijing includes 5 criteria and 15 indicators. The criteria involve biodiversity-rich region, the large forest landscape, rare and endangered ecosystems, to meet the basic natural services and the important social and cultural value forest regions. The corresponding indicators relate to the nature reserve, rare and endangered species-rich region, large secondary natural forest area, rare forest ecosystems, the important water catchment areas, river buffer zone, debris-flow ditch forest area, forest area around the Great Wall, classical gardens and historical and famous trees.High conservation value forest in Beijing should be protected mainly, and supplemented by appropriate tending. We should take rational protection measures to the forest area which is Biodiversity-rich region, large forest landscape, rare and endangered ecosystems, and control the destroy activities to the forest; increase the connectivity of landscape, strengthen the restoration of forest vegetation and protection of the important habit. The forest area around the important water catchment areas, community water source, debris-flow and the Great Wall should be fostered, all kinds of management measures should be useful to promote the forests to mixed forest, uneven-aged forest, multi-storied forest .The forest area of classic garden and ancient tree population should focus on the rejuvenation and pest control.
