A Web-Based Rice Variety Comprehensive Evaluation And Recommendation System

Agriculture is the foundation of the national economy, and seed is the foundation of agriculture. Seeds is the most important manufacture factor for agriculture, and crop variety comprehensive evaluation and recommendation is important for agriclucture. Based on synthesizing the theory and methodology of crop variety comprehensive evaluation and the database of rice variety in jiangsu, a web-based rice variety comprehensive evaluation and recommendation system was developed by integrating the database and web technologies, which would help the internet user to make decisions on good variety selection.By analyzing the existing methods of variety evaluation as variety coordination method, the fuzzy synthetical marking method, the grey correlation method, the DIOPSIS method and the expert comprehensive evaluation method, and integrating the grey correlation method with weight coefficients given by agricultural experts, the variety evaluation model for Japonica rice and Indic rice are developed. By comparatively analyzing the user requirements and variety characteristics, the variety selection model was developed by calculating the confident level of variety.According to the unified standards and data specifications, and by collecting the characteristics of variety breeded in Jiangsu area during recent three years, the jiangsu rice variety database was built, including the information of variety name, examined No., characteristic (spike number per unit area, grain number per spike, thousand grain weight, plant height, whole growth period), yield behaviour (mean yield of region experiment, mean yield of production experiment), quality indices (head rice rate, chalky rice rate, chalkiness degree, amylase content, gel consistence, length-width ratio), cultivation technology (sowing date, management of rice seedling, transplanting technology, fertilization and water management, prevention and cure of disease, insect and wee), breeding unit, the telephone number and address of the breed units and so on, which lay a foundation for quickly consulation of rice variety characteristics in Jiangsu area.Under the guidance of system engineering idea, and by integrating the theory and method of database, model and web technology, a web-based rice variety comprehensive evaluation and recommendation system was developed with the softwares as dreamweave, access, asp, and so on. This system realized the functions of information query, variety comprehensive evaluation and recommendation.Case studies on WRVCERS in lishui and sihong regions indicated that the design idea and structure framework of system accorded with the development demand of the rice production. The system exhibited higher information management efficiency and query speed, as well as good applicability and guidance for rice production.
