The road green space is an important part of urban green space system. It can reflect the whole visualization of city and the spirit state of residentes as the"window"of one city, which can improve urban ecological environment, sharp urban landscape and make the city more beautiful.This paper takes main urban road green space in Suzhou as the object of investigation and analysis. It chooses 54 typical artificial plant communities which are relatively stable to investigate and analysis in 82 roads. Some suggestions and optimization modes are given to the plant arrangements based on the synthetic evaluation of these artificial plant communities. Main research results as follows:1.The paper investigates the current status of main urban road green space in Suzhou, including the green plant species, the frequency of plants'application and the plants arrangement of main road green space of roads greenbelts, roads waterfront green space, streets corner green space and cloverleaf junction green space.2.The paper investigates and analyzes the artificial plant communities'characteristics of main urban road green space in Suzhou. It selects 22 plant communities in the roadside green space,12 plant communities in the waterfront green space,11 plant communities in the street corner green space and 9 plant communities in the cloverleaf junction green space. Their structural characteristics and community species diversity are analyzed using plant community methods.3.The reasonable evaluation system is set up based on the thorough investigation and analysis. The paper evaluates plant communities landscape, by selecting 12 evaluation factors from three aspects of visual quality, ecological efficiency and social service functions using Analytic Hierarchy Process method. According to the results of plant landscape synthetic evaluation, the grading of plant communities landscape is determined4.According to the principles of plants configuration and the results of plant landscape synthetic evaluation, the paper proposes the suggests and optimization modes of plants configuration in main road green space.
