RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a untouched automatic identification technique, which was widely used because it can manage and monitor efficently in the whole process of breeding, transportation and slaughter of animal and the manufacture and circulation.RFID technique was selected to implement of sow identification according to the comparison of several automated identification techniques. An intact automated sow feeding control system (ASFCS) applied in the scale hoggery was proposed in this study.Automated Sow feeding control system was comprised by two parts of hardware and software. Hardware was constituted host computer, slave computer and communication module. The salve computer was made up of RF reader module, information acquisition module, control module and communication module based on AT89S52 MCU. RF reader module was built by MF RC500 high frequency reader was used to read the information of ear tag and identify the sow ID. Information acquisition module took the charge of information acquisition such as number of ear tag, weight, time consumption , food intake and contact frequency with boar. Control module control opening and closing of breeding door, the location of crib through cylinder drive by MCU. It can realize automation of the whole breeding process management. Communication module was responsible for data transportation and receiving the order of host computer, which was built upon MAX232. Host computer was platform of information management provided data exhibition, storage and management.Software implemented the function of hardware acquisition and control developed by Keil C51. Host computer software was used to save the acquisition data, exhibit the weight of taking food pig, quantity of preset feed and the status of all tested equipments. It can automated draw the graph of sow weight, graph combined weight increasing and feed cost, the graph of food intake, even the graph of estrus index. Application software also orders the MCU to set the parameters like quantity and time of feeding.Experiments result indicated that material balance had a high precision, static error was 0.1%; RC500 RF reader was high sensitive, reading time consumption was less than 10ms, reading distance can reach 8cm; sow abnormal status alarm was timely and accurate, ratio of error was below 0.1%; the operation of both hardware and software were stable, it has a great applied value.
