The citrus seed industry provides seed source guarantee for the healthy development of the industry, but the phenomenon involving disputes over intellectual property rights such as seedlings’ branding and infringement is endless, and the industry urgently needs to develop a seedling identity traceability system to safeguard the common rights and interests of breeders and seedling enterprises. With the identity traceability of citrus seedlings as the research objective, this study first analyzed the software and hardware equipment requirements and designed the overall architecture of the traceability system;next, the hardware equipment such as electronic tags, readers, implantation tools and data management software were developed and tested;finally, the application test of the traceability system in citrus seedlings was completed. The main research results are as follows:1.A set of identity traceability system for citrus seedlings was developed based on RFID technology, which included three hardware devices such as electronic tags, readers, implantation tools and one set of data management software. The hardware equipment includes:(1)five generations of electronic tags: low-frequency tags NO.1(1.44×8 mm),NO.2(1.9×10 mm)and NO.3(1.25×7 mm),and Ultra High Frequency tags NO.4(7×1.25×1.5 mm)and NO.5(7×1.6×2 mm),of which the cost of Ultra High Frequency tag NO.5 is the lowest, only 1.5 yuan per piece(2)two handheld readers: low-frequency reader and Ultra High Frequency reader;(3)a handheld rapid implantation tool: implantation gun.Data management software: "Citrus seedling identity traceability system" software was developed.2.The developed hardware devices were applied to citrus seedlings and evaluated.(1)compared the implantation method of the electronic tag,the horizontal implantation has a smaller wound than the budding implantation, and the healing speed is increased by 4months and the healing rate is increased by 2 times, which is more suitable for the application of the tag in citrus seedlings;(2)compared the effect of the electronic tag on the growth of seedlings, the results show that there is no significant difference on the growth of the tufts, plant height and stem thickness, and there is no significant effect on the trauma of the internal tissues of the plant;(3)evaluated whether the wound healing agent was effective, although the healing rate was significantly faster than the control at the early stage of applying the wound healing agent, the wound healing rate only increased by 6.67% after 3months,which was not significant;(4)tested the distance between the reader scanning the low-frequency tag and the Ultra High Frequency tag,the reader scanning distance of Ultra High Frequency tag NO.5 could reach 20 cm,which was greater than the low-frequency reader(≤10cm);(5)tested the distance of Ultra High Frequency tag NO.5 being read in adult citrus trees, and found that the distance was still greater than 10cm;(6)tested the efficiency of different implantation tools, and the implantation gun could reach 15 seconds per piece, which was significantly higher than the grafting knife and hand drill.3.The developed data management software was applied, and the management software can process the tag code information collected by the reader, which can realize the whole process of big data traceability tracking of citrus seedling grafting, production, nursery and planting.Comprehensive analysis of the cost of the electronic tag,the distance to be read and the influence on plant growth, the Ultra High Frequency tag NO.5 performs the best, and the developed traceability system is fully functional and can provide traceability guarantee for seedling identity information, which can be put into production application.
