The genetic polymorphisms of 20 microsatellites were investigated in 3 chiken breeds in Shandong province in China. According to the allele frequencies of 20 microsatellite loci, mean heterozygosity (H), polymorphism information content (PIC) and genetic distances(DS) were calculated for each breed, respectively. The results showed each population that:Twenty-four alleles loci were founded from LH population, the number is 2 to 6 and the size is between 110 bp to 300 bp.The most alleles were 6 of loci CAU008 and CAU052,The allel frequently was difference, mean observed heterozygosity (H) and expected heterozygosity was 0.4500, 0.5789 respectively. The loci CAU008 was higest and that of loci CAU049 was the lowest.Twenty-three alleles loci were founded from BR population, the number was 2 to 4. The most alleles were 4 of loci CAU008, mean observed heterozygosity (H) and expected heterozygosity was 0.3850, 0.54880, respectively. The loci CAU013 was the higest and that of loci CAU049 was lowest .Twenty-one alleles loci were founded from LY population, the number was 2 to 6. The most alleles was 6 of loci CAU008, mean observed heterozygosity (H) and expected heterozygosity was 0.4375, 0.5731, respectively. The loci CAU013 was the higest and that of loci CAU053 was the lowest.The results showed that a total of sixty-eight alleles were found, of which 2 to 6 alleles occurring at each loci, and the mean alleles was 3.4, 2.65 and 2.1, respectively. The expected heterozygosity is nearer of observed heterozygosity. The mean PIC of Luhua chicken is the highest (0.5015 ), and that of Bairi chicken is the lowest (0.4571).The Nei's genetic distances between 3 populations ranged from 0.1911 to 0.3243. The genetic distanc between the LH and the LY was the largest(0.3243), and the genetic distance between the LY and BR was the lowest(0.1911).The three chicken populations were clustered into two groups based on the dendrogram on the basis of the Nei's genetic distances.The fisrt group included BR and LY chicken; the second group is only LH chicken.
