Muskmelon is populated by consumers for its excellent eating, text and flavor. Muskmelons were cultivated in plastic greenhouse in Guangxi region in 1990s, and this modal was good for adjustment of cultivation structure, additionally, it exhibited an exciting economic benefit. In order to meet the need of muskmelon production in Guangxi region, in this study we fetched in some domestic and overseas cultivars, and detected main agricultural characters of them and planting technologies to offer an accordination of fetching in cultivars, producing scientifically and improving quality of muskmelons. The aim of this study was to offer a technology rule adjusting muskmelons cultivation in plastic greenhouse in Guangxi region.The results of cultivars comparing experiments showed that, the stem and leaf of 'Jin 8' grew vigorously, and fruit was bigger, yield was higher, while total soluble solid (TSS) was lower comparing to the others. The fruits of 'Zaojin' and 'Jin 10' were bigger, while text of 'Xi 6'was the best, but it was sensitive to fly. TSS of the three cultivars above all were lower than the control cultivar 'Jinfenghuang'. The pulp thickness of 'Qingpi' was the highest, and so was TSS, but insensitive to sickness, and text was not so uniform. 'Wangluoshidai' showed a strong adaptation, a shorter whole bearing period resulting as fruit matured earlier, much higher TSS than the control cultivar, much uniform text and resistance to downy mildew, so it was suit for planting extendedly in Guangxi region.The results of planting technologies comparing experiments indicated that: 1 .Cultivating muskmelon seedlings by substrate, using compound fertilizer, potassium dihydrogen phosphate and potassium sulfate could accelerate vegetable growth of seedlings, root growth and dry weight accumulation, so enhancing index of strong seedlings and resistance to adversity. The positive effect of compound fertilizer was the best, followed by potassium dihydrogen phosphate and potassium sulfate. When using compound fertilizer, 0.5% was the best concentration, followed by 0.3%,0.1% and 1%.2. Muskmelon plants in plastic greenhouse, grew vigorously, were insensitive to sickness, the yield were stabile, quality was good due to the fitting condition in the greenhouse. While Muskmelon plants in field grew well at the beginning, but diseases broke out seriously after pollination, so the yield was lower. 3. Substrate cultivation was better than soil. Substrate was loose, rich in air and efficacious nutrient, so offered advantages for vegetable growth, which was better than soil. The stem length, stem diameter and increasing speed of leaf were faster of plants in substrate, and more photosynthesis accumulations were produced for fruit setting and expanding. The central TSS and edge TSS of fruits cultivated in substrate were higher, grads of the TSS was lower, flavor and texture were better also were not cracked than those in soil, In a word, cultivating melons using substrate was better than soil, for it could elevate growth speed and fruit quality. So using the abundant substrate material to improve melon substrate cultivation is an effective method to improve the yield and quality, and worth extending in producing, it is emphasized that melon in substrate cultivation grows faster, but is premature senility, so nutrient supplement is properly needed during the late period to ensure the plant grow vigorously and resist the diseases caused by premature senility. 4. Don't train after setting fruit could increase leaf number and photosynthesis ability, so it could accelerate growth, showing that weight per fruit was advanced, but not significantly different from which was trained. Training after setting fruit could focus nutrient, speed the stem grow, elevate sugar content (both central TSS and edge TSS), and thicken pulp thickness, these indicated that training after setting fruit is good for improving fruit quality, so in practice, stems except the setting fruit one should be cut.5. Some foliar fertilizers and adding sweet agents could improve melon quality. This study showed that using both 'Lvfenwei', a kind of foliar fertilizer, and 'Jushen', a kind of root fertilizer, could effect melon quality to some extend, for improving weight per fruit, central TSS and edge TSS. The other treatments also showed some effects, but no significant differences. This indicated that 'Lvfenwei' and 'Jushen' were good for improving melon quality, so were worth using extendedly. This study also showed that using potassium fertilizer in a certain increasing content was good for improving melon yield and quality.
