This paper tries to apply the embedded remote video capture technology to greenhouse monitoring based on analyzing the development status of the greenhouse monitoring technologies and the facilities and combining with the needs of greenhouse crop growth detection technology. It utilizes the modern electronics, video monitoring and network technologies, for obtaining the images of the growth condition, fertilizer demand and variation of the diseases, pests and weeds and supplies a timely and accurate information platform for the crop production managers. The main researches are as following.Designing and testing of the remote video monitoring hardware system. The main controller of this system is a core board, whose control chip is S3C2410A microcontroller based on ARM920T core. It has a minimum system, expanded the memory and fetched out the corresponding interface. The video obtaining equipment is a webcam—MPC-30B with a USB interface by APTECH, which is based on zc301p processor. I extend the USB communication, SD card memory, network communication, LCD screen and JTAG simulation debugging interfaces. In the end, weld the whole system and test it.Transplanting of the embedded operation system—Windows CE.net. According to the character of this system, cut the Windows CE.net operation system in the integrated development environment Microsoft Platform Builder 5.0 and program the Bootloader. Transplant and debug the Windows CE.net operation system.Designing and debugging of the remote video monitoring software system. Design drivers for peripherals and interfaces of the system to ensure that they can work normally, especially the video capturing camera driver. Design the video capturing, coding, storing, displaying and network programs in Embedded Visual C++ development environment. Design applications used in PC in the remote monitoring centre in Visual C++ 6.0, to receive, display, store the image information, and debug the whole software system.The result of debugging the whole system shows that this system is feasible in monitoring the remote greenhouse crop growth with characteristics of small portable, low-cost and low power consumption. The image information collected could meet demands of diagnosing greenhouse crop with some practical value.
