| The aim of this project was to study the characteristic of follicular wave pattern and the concentration changes of INH and FSH in plasma during the follicular development.20 healthy nonfertiled Dazu Black goats were used to study follicular changes by using daily B-mode transrectal ultrasound for two consecutive interovulatory interval(IOI).All follicles with their diameters greater than 2 mm were measured daily.A follicular wave was defined as one or more follicles with 6 mm or greater in diameter.The day that the follicles reached to 2 mm in diameter was defined as the day of wave emergence,and the first wave after ovulation was defined as wave 1.All goats displayed the same follicular pattern in successive estrous cycle.During the IOIs(mean±SEM,20.9±0.8 days;n=20),three and four follicular waves occurred in goats and that the predominant follicular wave pattern was three waves with ovulation from wave 3.The majority of IOIs≤21 d was of the 3-wave pattern(94.1%;P<0.05),whereas all IOIs≥22 d was of the 4-wave pattern(100%;P<0.05).Follicular waves emerged at 0.3±0.5d,8.2±0.7d,and 15.7±0.6d days for wave 1,wave 2,and wave 3, respectively,in goats with three waves of follicular development and at -0.2±0.3d,7.3±0.5d, 12.7±0.4d,and 18.0±0.6d days for wave 1,wave 2,wave 3,and wave 4,respectively,in goats with four waves of follicular development(Day0=the day of ovulation).The number of recruitment follicles,dominant follicles and ovulatory follicles in left ovary was larger than that in right ovary(p<0.05,n=20),but there is no significant dfference in diameter(p>0.05, n=20).The number of ovulatory follicles in goats with 3 follicular waves were larger than the goats with 4 folllicular waves(p<0.05,n=20),but the IOIs was shorter than the goats with 4 folllicular waves(p<0.05,n=20)To analyze the expression of FSH and INH during the development of follicles,10mL of blood samples were collected from 20 goats and added with anticoagulant.After centrifugation,the plasma was separagated to detect the leval of FSH and INH.Result showed that the level of FSH in plasma was higher but the level of INH was lower as the increase in the number of recruitment follicle and ovulatory follicle(p<0.05,n=20).According to these experimental results,findings can be summarized in the following conclusion.1.Three and four follicular waves occurred in Dazu Black goats and that the predominant follicular wave pattern was three waves with ovulation from wave 3.The number of ovulatory follicles were larger and the IOIs was shorter in goats with 3 follicular waves than the goats with 4 folllicular waves(p<0.01).2.The number of recruitment follicles,dominant follicles and ovulatory follicles in left ovary was larger than that in right ovary(p<0.05),but no significant difference in diameter (p>0.05).3.The level of FSH in plasma wss higher but the level of inhibin wss lower due to the increase in the number of recruitment follicles and ovulatory follicles(p<0.05). |
