Site classification has long been an academic hotspot both domestically and internationally because it plays an important role in forestry production such as forestry cultivation.This paper chooses Jiufeng Forest Park as the studied area,and does research on one project in this area as a result of its complete materials,and precise data.â… find out the dominant factors which have influence on site classification through the collection and analysis of the investigation data,information handling and extraction of basic materials,and through qualitative and quantitative analysis of factors which effect the site classification.Through the overlaying analysis of domestic factor monographic maps,â… work out the result of site classification and related monographic map of Jiufeng Forest Park by analysis of which we can quickly,visually and precisely recognize the distribution and speciality of the different site types,we can also be informed the existent vegetation types and dominant trees in different site types.This conclusion can serve as the base for sustainable development and utilization of forest resources,for the conservation and keeping of ecosystem balance,and for the development of sustainable and efficient agriculture.The research shows that:The applications of RS,GIS,and GPS technologies in site classification and charting can help to realize the multi-factor classification,enhance the precision and objectivity of classification,and meanwhile supply as a convenient platform for the combination of the dominant factor space and attribute database.Jiufeng Forest Park is divided into 15 site types when we choose the altitude,soil thickness,soil type as the dominant factors.According to the map of site classification and the map of cover type and dominant tree,we can conclude that in Jiufeng Forest Park the amount of evaporation in the shady slope is quite small,the soil humidity is great and the vegetations are flourish.It suitable for Chinese Pine, Acer truncatum Bunge to grow in site with good conditions,however,in the site with bad conditions to plant barren trees such as oriental arborvitae is better.This paper researches on the site classification and charting,contributing to the unification of site classification and cartography,and to the realization of ecological benefit,economic benefit, environmental benefit and sociological benefit.It also can be applied to the construction of ecological forestry and finally plays an important role in sustainability of forestry.
