With three-year-old weeping peach, standard peach and columnar peach as materials, the difference of their growth, growth characteristics and photosynthesis in growing season were studied. The dynamic changes of endogenous hormones in shoot tips were done. Dry matter distribution, the content of mineral nutrition and amino acids were compared during dormant period. The differences of growth dynamic and matters distribution resulting from defferent peach types were preliminary studied. The results were showed that:1. The growth results investigated were indicated that the increasing amounts of weeping peach height , ground diameter, shoot length and diameter were the smallest among three peaches in the growing period. Standard peach ground diameter was the biggest, but the increasing amounts of height and shoot length were smaller than columnar peach. Developmental characteristics of the three peaches were different. The weeping peach only had a growth peak on between 15th,May and 30th ,May in the growing period. Standard peach and columnar peach had two growth peaks which appeared respectively on from 15th, May to 30th and from 15th ,July to 30th.2. Diurnal variation of three peaches net photosynthetic rate displayed double-peak curve. The net photosynthetic rate of weeping peach was lower than that of standard peach and columnar peach. The average results of weeping peach was lower 48.29 percent; columnar peach was lower 18.79 percent than standard peach; with the first peak as parameter. Average net photosynthetic rates of three peaches were 4.664μmolCO2.m-2s-1,8.712μmolCO2.m-2s-1, 9.944μmolCO2.m-2s-1 respectively.3.The contents of IAA and GA in shoot tips of three peaches were compared. Columnar peach was highest, next was columnar peach, last was weeping peach. But the contents of CTKs and ABA were opposite. The content peaks of IAA and GA responded to new shoot growing peak. The weeping peach had one IAA content peak and one GA content peak. But standard peach and columnar peach had two in the growing period.4.Standard peach's dry weight which was bigger 16.46 percent, 49.51 percent than columnar peach and weeping peach respectively was the biggest in dormant period. Root cap ratio of standard peach was 0.27:1, the biggest. This showed that dry matter distribution to roots of standard peach was bigger than that of columnar peach and weeping peach whose root cap ratio were 0.17:1 and 0.18:1. The ratio of dry matter distribution to annual branch, biennial branch and capillary root was higher than weeping peach. That to coarse and fine roots was lower than weeping peach.5. The contents of N,P,K,Ca,Mg,Cu,Zn,Mn and Fe manifested the same trend among three peaches. The contents of these elements in two high activity sites of annual branches and thin roots were highest. The contents of N,P,K in different sits was very different. Ca,Mg,Cu,Zn,Mn and Fe contents were very close in trunks, coarse and fine roots. Mineral element contents of standard peach were higher than these of columnar peach and weeping peach, but the content diversity in different departments was different. 6.The average content of amino acid in standard peach'sites was the highest; that in weeping peach'was the lowest. Seventeen amino acids were classified three kinds by ratio. Amino acids of the ratio higher than 10 percent in standard peach'sites contained Asp,Glu,and Arg. These in columnar peach were similar to it. The ratio of Arg was higher than 10 percent in weeping peach organs. Therefore, leading storing methods of nitrogen in standard peach and columnar peach were Asp,Glu,and Arg. But nitrogen in weeping peach was mainly Arg.
