In this paper, the effect of nitrogen , phosphorus , and potassium on yield and quality of Sophora flavescens were studied. There are two tests in this study. One is the Effect of potassium application on biomass, characteristics of root, constitution of root yield, leaf character in field experiment and concentration and yield of total alkaloids. Another one is the Effect of nitrogen , phosphorus application on biomass, characteristics of root, constitution of root yield, leaf character in field experiment and concentration and yield of total alkaloids These main results can be gained from this study:1. Potassium can increase Height, Plant fresh weight, Plant dry weight, Root fresh weight, Root dry weight, Aerial fresh weight, and Aerial dry weight. The highest effect on biomass is Potassium rate of 60 kg/hm~2. Potassium application can increase biomass yield. Deficiency potassium can lowest Aerial dry weight and Root dry biomass.2. Potassium can increase Xylem diameter and root bark depth. Potassium application has more effect of root bark depth than Xylem diamete. Potassium application can increased, Percentage of xylem diameter can decreased and Percentage of root bark depth can increased. Potassium application has influence in Main root dry weight and Lateral root dry weight.3. Potassium can increase Leaflet area, Leaflet fresh weight, Leaflet dry weigh, alkaloids concentration and alkaloids yield. The highest lkaloids concentration and alkaloids yield is Potassium application of 90 kg/hm2. Potassium application of alkaloid contents determined bydifferent species of plant genetics and soil condition.4. Increased nitrogen application and phosphorus application can enhance Root diameter, Xylem diameter and Root volume. The biggest Root diameter is nitrogen rate 112.5 kg/hm2 combined with phosphorus rate 22.5 kg/hm2. Nitrogen combined with phosphorus can significantly increase Leaflet number, Leaflet area, Plant area, Leaflet fresh weight and Leaflet dry weight. The biggest Leaflet number, Leaflet area, Plant area, Leaflet fresh weight and Leaflet dry weight is nitrogen application 18.75 kg/hm2 combined with phosphorus application 22.5 kg/hm2.5. Nitrogen application combined with phosphorus application significant influence alkaloids concentration and Total alkaloids yield. Owing to increase alkaloids concentration and Root dry weight, alkaloids concentration can increased. By comprehensive consideration, The highest Root yield and Total alkaloids yield is Nitrogen application 112.5 kg/hm2combined with phosphorus application22.5 kg/hm2.
